## FILL YOUR BOOTS

### Sessions x Patty Guy

Sessions in Islington is a new food venue with a rotating kitchen where three chefs from around the UK showcase their menus every six weeks. *MasterChef* winner Kenny Tutt has just opened a pop-up in the kitchen to show Londoners one of his latest ventures – Patty Guy, which has a permanent outpost in Brighton’s Shelter Hall. The menu features classic cheeseburgers and double beef patty burgers topped with extras like American cheese, fresh green chillies and pickled jalapeños, as well sides like garlic mayo cheese fries and tater tots. Wash it down with craft beer, or treat yourself to a mega milkshake made with biscuits like Jammie Dodgers.

## GET YOUR CULTURE FIX

### David Shrigley Exhibition

British artist David Shrigley has made his name with bright prints showcasing his dry sense of humour. Whether it’s an animal with a satirical caption or a self-portrait that says something about the modern world, his artwork has universal appeal. Shrigley has just opened a standalone exhibition at Hoxton’s Hang-Up Gallery featuring 30 works. As well as his most famous prints, including the ‘Stop Panicking’ pink swan, it includes limited-edition art, ceramics and posters. A great way to inject some personality into your home.

## MEET YOUR MATES

### The Colonel’s Arms

Fried chicken fans, this one’s for you. KFC is opening its first ever pub in Hammersmith on Friday. Open for a week, The Colonel’s Arms has been decked out with KFC-inspired installations (think chicken drumstick wallpaper and pops of red and white throughout) and huge TV screens where you can watch World Cup matches. Diners can ring the ‘chicken bell’ to have meals delivered straight to the table, then order unlimited gravy and beers from the bar – we like the sound of the ‘Peck Pilsner’. Book a table at the link below or wing it with one of the walk-in spots.

## HIT THE GYM

### Third Space, Moorgate

We rate Third Space for its slick clubs and state-of-the-art equipment, so we were pleased to hear it’s opened a new gym in Moorgate. Impressive facilities include performance cardio equipment, Eleiko lifting areas, and a circular cycling studio for next-level spin classes. There’s also a caged arena for combat sessions, complete with padded walls and hanging bags, as well as a recovery lounge for cool downs. Post-workout, chill out in the sea salt-walled sauna before hitting the snazzy changing rooms.

## PREPARE FOR KICK OFF

### Football Shirt Exhibition at Valderrama’s

Earlier in the summer, chef James Cochran opened a sports bar in Islington, named after Colombian football legend Carlos Valderrama. To celebrate the World Cup, the bar has installed a retro football shirt exhibition featuring the tournament’s best shirts from the last 30 years, all updated with booze-based puns. The bar is screening every match of the tournament, so book ahead to get a table for your mates, then stay for crispy buttermilk fried chicken burgers and beers. DJs set the vibe every Friday night with hip-hop and R’n’B, while Saturdays means early 2000s bangers.

## CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING

### The Wild Turkey Dinner at Straker's

You might know Thomas Straker from his indulgent recipes on social media – or from his new Notting Hill restaurant, Straker’s. Either way, the chef is hosting a Thanksgiving dinner at his restaurant with whisky brand Wild Turkey on Thursday 24th November from 7pm to 10pm. The all-American menu includes fried turkey schnitzel, grilled langoustine with a whisky bisque, chocolate mousse with a Wild Turkey caramel sauce, plus other Kentucky-inspired dishes. All will be paired with whisky cocktails including an old fashioned, a highball and a gold rush. Tickets cost £30pp.

## BOOK AHEAD

### Mandela

The Young Vic is about to open a musical based on the life of Nelson Mandela. Created in partnership with the Mandela family, it focuses on his activism in 1960s South Africa, as he rallies the people of his country to protest against the racial segregation of apartheid. In 1962 he is arrested and sentenced to life in prison, where he will spend the next 27 years, taken from his wife and children as a fight for freedom sweeps his country. It’s the story of one man who changed the course of modern history, and the sacrifices he made as a husband and father. Tickets start from £10.
