It’s a dark stout, brewed using the spiced fruit filling for St. John’s signature Eccles cakes. To celebrate, the brewery is throwing a launch party on Sunday 5th November, when guests can try the beer alongside St. John dishes cooked on the grill at 40ft’s neighbouring sister restaurant Acme Fire Cult, as well as plenty of Eccles cakes topped with Lancashire cheese. Eataly has the largest collection of Italian wines outside Italy – and this weekend, visitors can sample over 50 bottles from ten producers including Frescobaldi, Ca' del Bosco and Borgogno. You can also meet some of Eataly’s suppliers, who have travelled over especially from Italy. Alongside an array of fresh truffle, you can try things like porchetta buns with truffle cheese cream, pizza with truffle sausage and ricotta, and vanilla ice-cream with truffle honey. On Thursday 2nd November, the gallery will restage the exhibition, which includes portraits created in pencil, pastel, ink and watercolour, as well as iPhone and iPad apps. The race begins at 7am, so set your alarm to see some rare cars, bicycles and motorbikes. In a historic Victorian building, the pub has refreshed interiors and a new menu.
