While I feel I know what works for me, I’m very much a magpie and often get seduced by bonkers pieces to mix in with my regular wardrobe of blues and beiges. ***Who influences how you dress?*** Generally, the stylish guys I see on my Instagram feed that really spark my imagination – special mention to [Dav Sehra](https://www.instagram.com/davsehra/), [Steve Calder](https://www.instagram.com/stevecalder/), [Jason Jules](https://www.instagram.com/garmsville/), [Jeremy Hershan](https://www.instagram.com/jeremyhershan/) and [FE Castleberry](https://www.instagram.com/fecastleberry/). ***What’s your favourite item of clothing right now?*** During these early autumn months, I’m getting a lot of use out of my superbly soft, padded green leather gilet from Brit-turned-Aussie menswear designer [Christian Kimber](https://www.instagram.com/christian_kimber/) – it’s the perfect layer on crisp mornings. I’m currently in savings mode to get more from him when I get out to Melbourne. ***What was your last big investment?*** My most recent investment piece was my evening suit from [Anglo-Italian](https://www.instagram.com/angloitaliancompany/) in Marylebone. I have been a huge fan of Jake Grantham’s work since he started the house back in 2017. The silhouette is that perfect blend of soft, easy-going Italian cut and British sensibility. When it came to commissioning a tuxedo that I wanted to have for my entire life, I knew that vibe would make the suit completely timeless. I'm also getting a lot of wear out of a baseball cap I bought at the recent [Anya Hindmarch](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=37208&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.anyahindmarch.com%2F) pop-up, which says 'Requires more focus' across the front – a frequent comment on my junior school reports! I like the neckerchiefs at [John Henric](https://www.instagram.com/johnhenric/), but I tend to find unbranded vintage ones on Vinted and eBay. And finally, I’d wear my [Christian Kimber leather gilet](https://christiankimber.com/collections/all-clothing/products/leather-vest-petrol). Perfect leaf-crunching kit. ***And which fragrances are you wearing?*** When cooler weather hits, I seek out comforting, aromatic scents – a bit woody, a bit herbaceous, but still fresh and easy to wear. It’s a classic. However, for a bit of fun, I also have a [Rowing Blazers collab Seiko 5 Sports watch](https://rowingblazers.com/collections/rowing-blazers-x-seiko) with the zig-zag bezel and multi-coloured Nato strap which never fails to put a smile on my face. It took that Ivy League heritage and infused it with more colour, easier shapes, and a bit more sportiness. Chaps was eventually spun off into its own separate brand from Ralph, which is still available in the US today, but I’m always on the lookout for pieces that feature the original Chaps Ralph Lauren crest. ***And your favourite brand generally?*** I think [Drake’s](https://www.drakes.com/) is infinitely wearable – I could happily have my entire wardrobe from there. Again, I love the collegiate style, and the cuts are impeccable across the range, but there’s always an element of interest or fun, which I think sometimes gets a bit lost with men’s fashion. I need there to be joy in what I wear, from colour or cut or pattern. ***What’s your favourite store to visit?*** I could spend days in [Liberty](https://liberty.prf.hn/click/camref:1110lurq/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.libertylondon.com%2F). Not only is the menswear really well curated, but the perfume room is one of the most interesting you’ll find in London. Plus, it has a [Margaret Dabbs](https://www.instagram.com/margaret_dabbs_london/), which is the best place for a pedicure. ***Give us your best piece of style advice for autumn…*** Whether it’s leaves, rain or mud, everything about autumn conspires against trainers, so get a pair of good, casual, shower-proof leather shoes. However, at almost 40, while there are some trends I can fully appreciate look great on other people, I’ve reached the age when I can tell relatively quickly when a trend isn’t for me (see short shorts). ***How do you bring accessories into play?*** It took me far too long to realise that accessories are the superpower of any man’s wardrobe. I wear a relatively consistent wardrobe of pieces in blue and beige, denim and wool, so having things like ties, neckerchiefs, hats and jewellery to add in daily keeps things feeling fresh. The best thing is that places like Vinted and eBay are great for getting these sorts of things at a reasonable price, and you generally don’t have to worry about sizing too much. That said, if I suddenly came into a lot of money, jewellery would definitely be my vice – stock levels at [Bleue Burnham](https://www.instagram.com/bleueburnham/) would plummet instantly. ***You’re going out for dinner tonight. Where are you going and what are you wearing?*** I’m very fortunate that I get to go to fancy restaurants with work, so if I’m going out for dinner with my husband, I really crave cosy, casual neighbourhood vibes. I want places that feel special, with great food I couldn't make myself at home, but are still relaxed like [Hello JoJo](https://www.hellojojo.co.uk/) in Camberwell or [Quo Vadis](https://www.quovadissoho.co.uk/) in Soho. There also needs to be a solid, exciting dessert menu because, frankly, that is the absolute highlight of eating out for me. I’ll be wearing a silk shirt, my black Flax London \[now [Original Fibres](https://www.instagram.com/originalfibres/)\] linen trousers, my [black suede Myrqvist loafers](https://myrqvist.com/en-gb/products/stenhammar-ii-black-suede) and my [AllBlues](https://www.instagram.com/allbluesofficial/) ring. I’ll also be wearing [Blindfold by L’Objet](https://uk.l-objet.com/collections/fragrance-collection/products/blindfold-eau-de-parfum-100ml-3-4fl-oz): an intriguing, darkly resinous mix of amber, tobacco, milk, saffron and sandalwood notes.
