These days, that’s 8am – because my daughter is usually up at 6am, waking me with a boot to the face or an elbow in my eye socket. A loving one, obviously, but if I make it to 8, I’m thrilled. I’ll get up and cook breakfast – scrambled eggs, which I’ve properly nailed over the years. I’m very confident about my scrambled eggs. Then we’ll go for a walk, do something vaguely wholesome, but really it’s just about getting through as much of the day as possible before I crack and go to the pub. I think 11am is acceptable. Once it hits 11, you can have a pint. I’ll go for a Guinness – it’s a strong first pint, almost like a brunch drink. At this point, I’m either still with my family or I’ve quietly gone off to the pub on my own and I’m texting them pretending I’m working: “On set”, “in a meeting” – when actually I’m just sitting there drinking Guinness. That continues until about 5pm. Then I come home for bathtime and help put my daughter to bed. So yeah – it’s basically a day of me drinking Guinness on my own from 11 until 5. ## The area that best describes me… I’d like to say Notting Hill. I think most people would say Mayfair, which is just ‘wanker’. Notting Hill is also ‘wanker’, but with a slightly more bohemian edge, so I’m going with that. ## Favourite pub… I like the [Cock & Bottle](https://www.cockandbottlew11.com/). That’s a good one. I also like the [Walmer Castle](https://www.walmercastle-nottinghill.co.uk/), unless it’s absolutely rammed. I don’t really like drinking Guinness on the street, shoulder to shoulder. I’d rather have a seat. Also, ideally, I’m on my own. That’s quite key. Although someone recently told me I’ve been saying it wrong and it’s actually ‘fuh’, which I just can’t bring myself to say. It feels like one of those things where you instantly sound like a bit of a knob, so I’ll stick with pho. Beef brisket. No sides. Full commitment. ## Guilty pleasure… Burgers. Specifically, [Bleecker Burger](https://www.bleecker.co.uk/) on Deliveroo. Two burgers, no fries. By that point, you’re in a sort of meat coma – you can’t eat anything else, you just have to lie down and sweat out the salt. ## Under-the-radar spot… I don’t really have one, to be honest. My mind immediately went somewhere in Soho that I probably shouldn’t say… so no, nothing under the radar. Everything I do is very much on the radar these days. ## Coffee spot… There’s a place near me called [Hagen](https://www.thehagenproject.com/) that does very good coffee. If I’m being recorded, I’d say I order cappuccino or Americano. If I’m not, it’s a flat white, but I don’t like saying that out loud. I went to the [Berkeley](https://www.maybourne.com/en/hotels/the-berkeley?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=local) recently with my partner and that was lovely – a couple of hours just switching off. ## The tourist attraction I rate… [Madame Tussauds](https://www.madametussauds.com/london/). I found out they have a vault where they keep all the waxworks of people who’ve been cancelled, which I think is fascinating. That alone makes it worth going. ## Best comedy venue… [Top Secret Comedy Club](https://thetopsecretcomedyclub.co.uk/) on Drury Lane. It’s always rammed and it’s a great place to try out new material. My brother also runs a night at the [Fat Badger](https://thefatbadgerw10.com/) in Notting Hill on Mondays – really good food and comedy, which is a great combo. I also love [Trullo](https://www.trullorestaurant.com/). The pasta is incredible. I sometimes go there before Arsenal games, which makes me sound like a complete idiot – everyone else is having a pint and a burger, and I’m having cacio e pepe and a negroni. This is why people hate Arsenal fans. ## Final word… I started this trying to make it sound like I’m one of the lads – down the pub, drinking Guinness. And I do do that. But I’ll probably end up celebrating at Trullo with a glass of champagne, which slightly undermines the whole thing.
