FOR THE AFTERNOON…

Hopefully the sun’s out as you pour the first drinks of the day. Either way, you’re at least guaranteed a serene welcome from Bristol-based producer Henry Green. He’s joined forces with the unique vocal talent that is Andreya Triana to deliver my opening track ‘Tide’. Taking the baton from them is Jayda G, the new poster girl for underground house music. This remix is a soulful balance of bouncy vocals and an almost pop-like melody.

Floating Points puts his ethereal twist on Caribou’s beautiful ‘Sister’ before Oscar G injects a bit more of a beat with with the wonderful ‘OG Groove’. Then Special Request serves up a tranquil, echoing piece of electronica. The unwinding electronica continues with John Beltran’s ‘Touch The Blooms’. Irresistible keys and light percussive elements make for a cool listening moment – evocative without intruding on your event.

The pace gradually builds now with Disclosure providing a jazzy-chopped sample, beautifully complemented by Hiatt dB’s broken-beat brass-fuelled congo-like rhythms and catchy vocals. Jamie Trench will then leave you trying to figure out where you know that sample from.

Selace – better known as one half of Basement Jaxx – delivers something subtly stunning on ‘So Hooked On Your Lovin’ before Fango drops some of the most audacious French-filtered house of recent times. Finally, Bellaire delivers a grooving piano-laden number ready to take you into the evening.

FOR THE EVENING…

This is the point at which the sun would usually be setting in the Ibiza sky. Wherever you are, the filtered bass on Shakarchi & Stranéus’s rumbling ‘Clinton Hill’ makes for a great warm-up track.

‘Carrie’ is more downtempo than most things involving Alex Metric – listen out for some exquisite uplifting chords. Cassius then increase the tempo with a classic piano-loaded track that should have everyone nodding along as the acid line builds.

David Penn pushes the envelope that little bit further with more pianos and a driving beat, before ‘Hypercolour’ sees CamelPhat putting their distinctive progressive bass sound to a contrasting vocal from indie favourites Foals.

John Summit takes the reins with ‘Deep End’, which would surely have been the hit of Ibiza this summer – had there been one. ‘Mino’ is a percussive tribal number provided by Toolroom Records’ Ben Remember. Then it’s Mark Knight – the boss of that aforementioned label – with an update on the classic ‘Man With A Red Face’.

Horse Meat Disco are here to step things up a notch, putting their acid-filled twist on the classic Fatboy Slim track ‘Bird Of Prey’ – flipping it from something relaxed to an upfront driving number.

The evening crescendos with Eats Everything’s reworking of an 80s disco track that should leave you yearning for the clubs to open again. For the very final touch, Pete Heller’s eight-minute masterpiece ‘Big Love’ is a classic ‘one more song’ moment.
