How To Style A Black Polo Neck | SLMan
It’s all too easy to get polo necks wrong but done properly they can look every bit as sophisticated as the knitwear gods intended. Here are five rules for getting it right…

DON’T go too tight. A slightly relaxed fit is key to looking grown-up – we highly recommend M&S’s cashmere or merino styles for the perfect amount of slouch.

DO stick to good fabrics. Blends will look cheap and with so many high-street names creating good stuff, there’s no excuse not to shop wool instead.

DO make sure the neck is long enough. A short little funnel neck just won’t cut it – better to have to roll down a long style.

DON’T pair the look with anything too pale. Inevitably your rollneck will be a darker shade (and if it isn’t, you should address that) so stay classy by adding only blacks, navys and khakis.

DON’T add fussy separates. The polo neck is a refined classic, and it should be treated as such – forget busy prints, colours or too many layers. Keeping it simple is key.
