In Photos: A Vintage Car Rally Through The Highlands
We were calling it the Tweed Rally affectionately, but really it was more of a three-day photo shoot disguised as a car rally. It was the beautiful brainchild of some menswear stalwarts: photographer Jamie Ferguson, editor and author Matt Hranek, and John Sugden – owner of Campbell’s of Beauly, a Highlands-based tweed mill that’s been outfitting princes and kings since 1858.
Alongside Campbell’s, Fox Brothers and Harris Tweed were tapped to supply fabric for the 23 participants in the rally, who could each choose a tailor to bring their ensemble to life. I opted to collaborate with J. Mueser, a New York-based tailor with workshops in Naples, and create three new suits for the occasion.
They may not have been the most practical garments for a top-down drive in the rain, but they felt perfectly at home at The Torridon, a five-star former hunting lodge in Wester Ross that served as our base.
Below, we’ve assembled a few of the visual memories captured by Jamie Ferguson and Lorenzo Sodi. May they inspire you to head for the hills with your mates…
