Where To Go For Really Good Game

Where To Go For Really Good Game

/

The British Game Alliance is celebrating its fourth annual Game Week and plenty of first-class establishments wanted in. All they had to do was create something new and exciting to showcase the best of British venison and feathered game. Here’s what they came up with.

Orrery

This elegant Marylebone restaurant usually focuses its menus on decadent French cuisine. For Game Week, Michelin-starred head chef Igor Tymchyshyn is offering a refined partridge dish accompanied by a mezze of seasonal vegetables, which you can even enjoy while taking the winter air on Orrery’s Provence terrace.

The Game Bird at The Stafford London

Of course The Game Bird is celebrating Game Week. In fact, this self-proclaimed ‘theatre for the senses’ has a plethora of game-based flavour combinations to try: look out for its signature roast pigeon with braised leg ‘bullshot’ – or the whole stuffed partridge if you’re feeling peckish.

Holborn Dining Room

Within the Rosewood Hotel, Holborn Dining Room is keeping things traditional. It has created a BGA game pie specifically for British Game Week – a good fit for its classical British menus that already feature a unique rabbit salami. Staying overnight? Then you can also switch out the pork chipolatas in your full English for pheasant fennel sausages.

Café Spice Namaste

East London has no shortage of great Indian restaurants, and Café Spice Namaste is right up there with the best of them. Chef Cyrus’s Game Week menu is a fusion of curried meat dishes, including a flavourful venison tikka. Game is regularly featured on the menu here – look out for grouse, pan-grilled and simmered in a spiced tomato sauce with apricots and figs.
