The Next-Level Hotel To Book On The French Riviera
Created in partnership with IHG HOTELS & RESORTS
Famously the first luxury hotel to open in Cannes, The Carlton Cannes, has been an iconic sight on the French Riviera for the last 100 years. Occupying the frontage of an entire block overlooking the city’s prestigious beachfront promenade, La Croisette, the hotel’s grand exterior is hard to miss – and it’s no surprise to hear it offers the largest unobstructed view in Cannes. Known for hosting the establishment elite – from film stars to presidents – and acting as the backdrop for Elton John’s ‘I’m Still Standing’ music video as well as Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch A Thief, it is a truly storied hotel. Now it's added a new chapter to its history.
Right on the Côte d’Azur, the hotel is just a 45-minute drive or short helicopter transfer from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport. As part of the two-year renovation, its famous ‘Carlton Hotel’ inscription atop its façade has been restored. The rest of the property’s majestic Belle Epoque exterior, which is framed by twin domes, has also been returned to its former glory.
The ambitious project has also seen the interiors of the ‘Grand Dame of Cannes’ reimagined by acclaimed French designer Tristan Auer. That includes 332 bedrooms – 72 with a sea view – 52 suites and 37 branded residences. Inside each bedroom, you’ll find high ceilings, calm Pantones, artisan fabrics and every modern luxury needed for a truly restful stay. We love the look of the One Bedroom Suite With A Sea View, which has a presidential feel, king-sized bed, generous living space, panoramic vistas, an elegant bathtub and lots of natural light.
Thanks to an extension, the hotel now has a new meeting centre, alongside an infinity pool, quiet courtyard garden and state-of-the-art fitness centre. Le C Club caters to every physical or emotional need with a full suite of facilities and restorative experiences. From boxing to Pilates, the club's elevated menu of signature treatments can be tailored for all moods and needs. Perhaps best of all, the grand hotel has its own private beach club and a spa with sleek sunbathing decks, cabanas – and the largest infinity pool in Cannes.
Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel has plenty of choice when it comes to places to drink and dine. One of the latest options is Turkish restaurant Rüya, with its exclusive bar and courtyard terrace. However, the Riviera Restaurant has to be the most iconic meeting point on La Croisette, hosting countless celebrities over the decades. It’s just the spot to book for a memorable meal. Elsewhere, guests can choose from a relaxing afternoon tea or morning patisserie at Camelia Tea Lounge, a drink on the cigar terrace, sleek cocktails and bottles of champagne at Bar58, or Franco-Italian dishes and a chic 1950s atmosphere at the Carlton Beach Club restaurant.

The Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel is the place to be on the French Riviera. Whether for a short break or a week’s holiday, it’s the most central place to explore the full coastline. All the area’s most popular locations are within an hour's drive, and the other big advantage of Cannes is that no matter what time of year it is, there’s always something going on, with events and festivals taking place all year round.
Since 1913, the hotel has embodied the spirit of the Riviera. So many stories have been told here, so many memories still resonate here, so many scenes and encounters have become legendary...
For me, a ‘five-star experience’ doesn’t really mean anything. A memorable stay needs to be much more than a personalised experience, it has to be individual to every guest. At the Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel, we strive to offer the unexpected alongside exceptional service throughout a stay. We believe these are the things that differentiate the guest journey and make them come back every time they visit the French Riviera. Our aim is to remove any points of friction, creating a personal haven for visitors.
The Carlton Cannes, is renowned as Cannes’s favourite address for celebrities. We are very discreet about that, because we want to respect our guests’ privacy, but the hotel has always welcomed the famous, starting with Grace Kelly, Cary Grant and Alfred Hitchcock during the filming of To Catch A Thief back in 1954. With the Cannes Film Festival underway, we are looking forward to welcoming more guests.
Our head concierge is on hand to unearth one-of-a-kind experiences that are exclusive to guests of The Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel. From flying by helicopter to an ultra-secret place in the Esterel mountains, to a memorable ‘glass art cooking’ dinner in Biot, or making your own aftershave, all our experiences are created so guests can discover local wonders.
Guests shouldn’t miss Le C Club – our new fitness and spa complex. With a full-size boxing ring, state-of-the-art gym and Pilates studio, it’s the perfect spot to stay in shape during a trip to the French Riviera. With one of our private coaches, guests can expect a fully personalised session of whatever sport they like, even trying new ones, before taking a well-deserved dip in the infinity pool.
Regardless of the season, the Carlton Beach Club is open. A chic and relaxed setting, the club is enhanced by a sprinkling of 1950s French Riviera glamour and a twist of ‘la dolce vita’. Opened in 1930, it was the first private beach in Cannes. Since then, it has been renowned for its exceptional service and lively atmosphere. Guests can either meet in the restaurant, on the beach, at the bar or – even better – on the world-renowned central pontoon, which offers an uninterrupted panoramic view of the Mediterranean, the Esterel mountains and the Lérins islands.
Families are offered a holiday of a lifetime at the hotel. Families can be hosted in one of our opulent rooms or suites which provide a luxurious yet homely feel; or in the comfort of one of our residences, which are designed to look and feel like lavish Mediterranean homes. They can access all of the hotel's services, including room service, the infinity pool, the beach club and wellness centre. The Kids Club at the Carlton Beach Club makes summer holiday in Cannes even more enjoyable for both children and parents.
There are lots of experiences for guys to make the most of a trip. Cocktails in Bar58 are always a popular choice and we love organising personalised exclusive experiences like a private boat trip for a day out in the Lérins islands, enjoying the Mediterranean sun with a food and drink hamper. A helicopter trip to Saint-Tropez delivers more of a party-style excursion, or we can organise a private flight to take in Monaco’s delights.
