The SLMan Guide To Ibiza
Where To Stay
Can Sastre
If you’re going to Ibiza to explore the hiking routes and more laidback side of the island, Can Sastre is a small boutique hotel in the rural village of San Rafael, a 20-minute drive from Old Town. Here, it’s all about relaxing and connecting with nature through outdoor yoga classes, bike rides and snorkelling. There are three rooms and two villas spread across white-washed buildings which feel more like a private holiday home – the deluxe suite is ideal for couples while the villa suite sleeps four across two bedrooms. Guests can enjoy brunch poolside, though you’ll need to make reservations for lunch and dinner.
Rooms from £220 per night.

Cubanito
A top choice for festivalgoers during high season, you’ll probably recognise Cubanito’s Insta-worthy Havana-inspired interiors. It’s right in the middle of San Antonio, with some of the island’s best nightlife and restaurants on its doorstep. Rooms are bright and spacious with quirky retro furniture and outdoor terraces, while the rest of the hotel has art-deco interiors reminiscent of fun Cuban paladars. There’s a slick rooftop bar where guests can enjoy an array of mojitos, listen to DJ sets and take salsa lessons, as well as Little Havana, which serves Cuban food at the restaurant and pool. Non-residents can buy a day pass to use the facilities and take part in activities throughout the day.
Rooms from £90 per night.

El Hotel Pacha
Pacha’s hotel has been closed for the last few years, but it’s set to reopen at the beginning of July following an extensive renovation. The property is across the street from the brand’s iconic nightclub (guests get free entry) and a ten-minute walk from Ibiza Town. The interiors celebrate the best of Spanish design with earthy tones, neutral textures and a modern Balearic aesthetic – all 56 rooms have terraces and spacious marble en-suites. A new bakery, La Boulangerie, will serve fresh pastries day and night, and host bread-making workshops.
Rooms from £80 per night.

Atzaró
A longstanding favourite of those in the know, Atzaró lets you dip in and out of the party scene thanks to its secluded location in Santa Eulalia, surrounded by orange groves in the Mediterranean garden. The hotel has 24 light and bright suites, with further rooms in the works. There are also nine pools, a private beach with daybeds, and a spa tucked away in the orange groves. Atzaró’s destination restaurant La Veranda serves Mediterranean dishes made with healthy and natural ingredients grown in the estate’s vegetable garden, while Aubergine By Atzaró – its farm-to-table concept – is just ten minutes down the road. Hostal La Torre
Considered one of Ibiza’s best sunset spots – and affordable properties – Hostal La Torre is a hidden gem in San Antonio. On a clifftop overlooking Cala Gracio beach, the hostel was made for meeting likeminded travellers on the terrace bar, exploring beaches along the west coast and soaking up chilled vibes reminiscent of the island’s 90s heyday. Guests can stay in one of 17 rooms with whitewashed walls, wooden furniture and nautical accessories, and dine at destination restaurant La Torre which serves seafood and tapas. There isn’t a pool, but you can sit in the hostel’s lush gardens or enjoy Cala Gracio’s calm waters nearby.
From £75 per night.

Hotel Riomar
Easily one of the top hotels in Santa Eulalia, on the quieter side of the island, Hotel Riomar attracts guests who want to lounge on the beach, eat excellent seafood and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of Ibiza’s eastern coast. With fresh interiors (the team who designed Nobu in Shoreditch were behind the 2021 refurbishment), mid-century style is mixed with neutral colours for a modern look. Guests can take part in complimentary activities like yoga in the morning, before tucking into generous breakfasts on the terrace. The food is particularly good – expect calamari, truffle pasta and king prawns served with cocktails – and spicy palomas and margaritas with beats from the DJ at Tribe.
Rooms from £180 per night.

Grand Paradiso
A deluxe, suites-only addition to the Paradiso Art Hotel, Grand Paradiso is set to open in August. In San Antonio Bay, its selling point is its faithfully recreated 1950s Americana style. A first for the island, the theme incorporates art-deco touches, jukeboxes in the lobby, a 50s-style cinema and a jacuzzi inside a Cadillac Eldorado (the ‘Caduzzi’). Film is a huge inspiration here – suites are called ‘Almódovar’, ‘David Lynch’ and ‘Wes Anderson’ – and there will be an art gallery celebrating works by audio-visual artists. In the pool area, look out for a DJ booth in the shape of a classic Miami beach hut, complete with backstage VIP space for 20 guests.
Rooms from £210 per night.

Nativo Hotel Ibiza
Four-star Nativo Hotel Ibiza opened late last summer – and is perfect if you’re looking for something fun, relaxed and a little bit boho. It’s in Siesta, a tranquil residential area of Santa Eulalia del Río, on the northern coast of Ibiza. Close to the beach, there are also three pool areas – we like the look of the adults-only one, which is on the rooftop next to a restaurant and cocktail bar. The two ground-floor pools are enclosed by natural sand zones so guests can walk barefoot, alongside palm trees, sunbeds and hammocks. For accommodation, we like the look of the rattan-swathed swim-up pool suite.
Rooms from £285 per night.

Set to open next year, this boutique hotel originally opened in 1933. Now it’s been taken over by Experimental Group, which already owns the island’s ever-popular Experimental Beach Ibiza at Playa des Codolar Salinas. The team has spent the last few months renovating the hotel’s 33 bedrooms and its restaurant and lounge bar Sabbaba Montesol (currently open), which brings together the flavours of Jerusalem and Spain. Following the transformation by French designer Dorothée Meilichzon, the restaurant has spaces inside, on a large terrace and on a striking rooftop overlooking Ibiza Old Town and the port.

OKU Ibiza is back for its second season. With a relaxed, rustic vibe, this hotel has the feel of a Six Senses property – just at a more accessible price. With excellent service and all the facilities you’d expect from a Six Senses property, it’s perched over beautiful Xarraca Bay. The Standard
The Standard has finally landed in Ibiza. Fronting the Vara de Rey plaza in Old Town, the hotel is set in a stark white building that forms the backdrop for the bright, eclectic décor and landscaping throughout the property. The design celebrates the 1960s energy that originally attracted so many to Ibiza. A street-level restaurant spills onto the plaza during the day, before transforming into a nightlife hub after hours. The Standard also has a separate building – Casa Privada – available for groups. With its own private pool, bar, gym, lounge and 14 bedrooms, the hideaway is just a block away from all the amenities of the hotel, but with the privacy of a villa, including two suites with outdoor terraces and tubs.

There are two outdoor pools (waiters will bring jugs of sangria to your sun lounger) plus a spa for indulgent treatments, but the main draw is the food.
