LEARN ABOUT THE GOOD STUFF: Stauning Whisky Distillery Tour & Tasting

At 6.30pm this Thursday, Stauning will host a Zoom tour of its distillery in Denmark. The brand only launched in the UK last year, but it’s one of the best blends we’ve tried in recent months. Led by Stauning's storyteller Pernille Nielson, you’ll be shown how to taste the whiskies at different stages of the distillery tour, what flavours to look out for and how they make the spirits. Tickets cost £35 and include samples of three whiskies – Staunings Rye, Kaos and Peat – plus a special tasting glass.

EAT WELL AT HOME: La Goccia Meal Kits

SLMan favourite La Goccia in Covent Garden (the sister restaurant of Petersham Nurseries) has just launched a meal kit so you can enjoy its excellent small plates at home. Each kit includes burrata with squash agrodolce; cauliflower with sundried tomato aioli; pear and pecorino toscano; potatoes al forno with garlic and rosemary; and borlotti beans with cavolo nero. Veggies can then go for fresh spaghetti with wild mushrooms, and leek gratinato. Carnivores have the option of fresh hand-rolled rigatoni with slow cooked beef ragù, and wood-fired chicken al burro. To finish off, there’s a classic Italian tiramisu. Kits start from £80 for two and can be delivered nationwide.

Guests so far include Stephen Fry, film critic Mark Kermode and actor George Rainsford, with more famous voices to come later in the series. Whether you’re a hardcore horror fan, or looking for recommendations from the pros, this is an entertaining listen. Don’t miss the episode with Kermode on 1982 ‘trash masterpiece’ Basket Case.
