NAB A NEW PIECE OF ART

George X Christie's Auction

Christie’s has partnered with George in Mayfair for an online auction to sell some of the club’s artwork for charity. The auction is to raise funds for The Caring Family Foundation, which supports child poverty around the world. The collection includes 71 pieces of art, including Tracey Emin’s blue and white neon ‘I’m a Rare Bear’; the original dachshund linocut designed for George by Hugo Guinness which became the club’s logo; a selection of prints and exhibition posters by David Hockney; ski and travel posters by Emil Cardinaux; photographs by Slim Aarons; and drawings by E.H. Shepard, the illustrator of Winnie the Pooh. Bidding ends on Tuesday 28th March.

Oscars Menu At Cut, 45 Park Lane

Want to live like the stars? Book a table at Cut, 45 Park Lane where exec chef Elliott Grover will be recreating the menu he cooked for guests at the 95th Academy Awards. Created alongside celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, there’s a selection of elevated British dishes to try, including chicken pot pie, fish and chips, and a classic trifle. There’s also a special ‘Golden Nights’ cocktail made with organic cachaça, lime juice, oleo-saccharum, Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut, electric fino sherry, mint, bitters and gold flakes.

Art After Dark

Berlin and Paris have late-night art programmes to get visitors into their best galleries at night. Finally, the initiative has landed in London. Some of the capital’s best galleries and museums will keep their doors open until 9pm during a two-day event. On Thursday 23rd March, independent galleries including Cristea Roberts, 3812 Gallery and Stern Pissarro will be open until late, followed by the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) and the National Gallery on Friday 24th March. Highlights include the Nalini Malani exhibition at the National Gallery and the ‘Image of the Artist’ portrait collection at the RA. There will also be illuminated immersive art installations at Piccadilly Circus, St James’s Market and St James’s Churchyard to look out for.

The Mayfair Chippy at Bicester Village

Seafood restaurant The Mayfair Chippy will open a pop-up at Bicester Village on Friday 24th March. For the next six months, shoppers can stop for a bite to eat at the stall for breakfast, fish and chips, and sandwiches. The breakfast menu includes bacon and tomato sandwiches, and smoked salmon and crème fraiche crumpets, while lunch consist of fried cod or haddock with proper chip-shop chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce, and curry sauce or HP gravy. You can also choose from crab burgers, fish finger sandwiches, and lobster and crayfish rolls.

The BBC will open its immersive Earth Experience on Thursday 30th March. Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, visitors can walk through the Water Life and Micro Life rooms before reaching the Vista Stage with its 360° audio-visuals. Ideal for kids, there are hundreds of multi-angle screens with interactive rooms exploring biodiversity across the seven continents. After you’ve explored the landscapes and met its inhabitants, you’ll hear an inspirational message in the Earth Room from Sir David.

Air Max Day at TT Liquor

On Sunday 26th March, TT Liquor in Shoreditch is hosting an all-day party to celebrate Nike Air Max Day. The venue has teamed up with The Drop Date and Gordos Pizzeria for a rooftop bash with cocktails, sneakers and NYC-style slices. To mark the birth of the Air Max range back in 1987, the first 87 guests this week will get a Signature Brew beer and dram of Buffalo Trace bourbon on the house.
