With help from Game4Padel, the team took over the Backyard Cinema site to open three outdoor padel courts. The club's events calendar is packed with leagues, tournaments and social gatherings.

Padium is the new padel club in Canary Wharf from the team behind Barry’s Bootcamp. The club has seven indoor panoramic glass courts and one outdoor court. Advanced players will appreciate the 10m indoor ceiling and the excellent floor conditions for a fast-paced game. You’ll also have access to world-class coaches for one-to-one and group sessions. Off court, there are chillout zones, modern changing rooms, a bar with energy drinks and protein shakes, and a pro shop with exclusive clothing from Björn Borg and Babolat rackets.

Stratford Padel Club

Over in East London, Stratford Padel Club has built a community of over 20k players, who visit its site near the Olympic Park to play on one of nine indoor courts. The club was opened by a group of friends six years ago and quickly became one of the best spots to play padel in the UK. It offers pay to play matches (download the app to organise matches with other players), as well as private and group lessons, and tournaments for intermediates. The site also has a gym, table tennis areas, a small restaurant and a beer garden. 

Price: From £20 per hour for non-members; memberships available for frequent players.

Rocket Padel, Ilford

Rocket Padel has a 14-court site in Bristol as well as London biggest club, which opened its doors in Ilford last month. Home to 11 indoor panoramic courts, and two tournament centre courts, the venue is LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) approved and has a coaching academy if you want to level up your skills. With sessions for beginners and intermediates, you can book private or group lessons. Post-match, chill out in one of the social areas and settle the score over drinks at the bistro. Later in the year, Rocket Padel will open another huge venue at Battersea Power Station.

One of London’s original padel venues, Padel Social Club has a site with state-of-the-art equipment in Earl's Court, a space at Babington House, plus sites at the O2 and Wandsworth in the works. Over in Earl's Court there are five panoramic outdoor courts with various surfaces and lighting, so you can play outside whatever the weather. Coaching programmes are tailored different skill levels, and there are lessons for beginners, too. The club itself has an outdoor roof terrace, a restaurant and bar for post-match drinks, a shop and modern changing rooms with saunas and ice baths. Plus, this is one of the best options on this list for social events – the team host regular events, ‘padel play dates’ for singles and summer parties.

PDL Padel United, Waltham Abbey

One of the largest padel clubs in Essex, PDL has six indoor and six outdoor courts. Ideal for beginners and those after a leisurely game, members can look forward to summer events, while drop-ins can book training sessions and take part in amateur club tournaments. One of the most affordable options on this list, members are given a ‘padel passport’ for £50pcm which gives you unlimited padel access, free equipment hire, event discounts and access to coaching. Plus, kids play for free with an adult.

National Tennis Centre, Roehampton

This is where the Wimbledon’s ball boys and girls, and many of the pros, train pre-tournament. As well as 20 indoor and outdoor courts, there are three padel courts where you can challenge your mates to a serious game or sign up for coaching sessions with pro-level coaches. Best of all, you don’t need to be a member to use the courts, just sign up for a pay to play session.
