Coppa Club is set to reopen its popular igloos at Tower Bridge, with the pods and surrounding terraces undergoing a seasonal transformation for spring. Seating six people, the igloos will be filled with woven wicker chairs, bamboo lanterns and linen throws, and will be decorated with suspended botanicals and festoon lighting. There will be an all-day à la carte menu with a selection of seasonal European dishes, including sharing plates of seared garlic king prawns, Devon crab linguine with anchovy and chilli and a selection of sourdough pizzas.

Outside at Trinity
Michelin-starred Trinity is bringing alfresco European-style dining to Clapham with its new large outdoor space opening adjacent to the restaurant. Called ‘Outside’, the space has been created in partnership with Ruinart champagne and will have seating for 35 guests. There will be a mobile bar and kitchen BBQ area, which will be serving Dom Ruinart, Ruinart blanc de blanc and Ruinart rosé by the glass, plus small plates of fish and meat and summery salads.

Joy at Portobello
Stevie Parle will reopen Joy at Portobello next week – and it could potentially be the outdoor restaurant's final month, as the fate of Parle's residency at Portobello Dock is up in the air. So Parle is pulling out all the stops, decorating the space with thousands of beautiful spring-blooming parrot tulips and launching a new seafood-focused menu, showcasing the finest produce from resident supplier The Goods Shed and its trusted Kentish fishmonger, as well as fresh Welsh catches from Lockdown Lobsters. The menu can be enjoyed al fresco in the picture-perfect glass greenhouse, one of the art-filled pavilions (which come with heaters) or out in the sunshine on a canal-side table.

Native at Browns
Fashion department store Browns is set to open its first restaurant, Native at Browns. The team behind Native – which has two ethical dining spots in Neals Yard and Borough – is bringing its award-winning menu to Mayfair, serving up food and drinks made from seasonal produce and foraged ingredients. Ahead of restaurant’s full opening next month, the team is opening a courtyard garden where customers will be able to tuck into ‘garden bites’ and natural wine selection al fresco.

London Shell Co – the restaurant aboard The Grand Duchess – is launching a deck and summer menu. The deck will run alongside the boat and offers views across Regents Canal. The new menu will feature a range of fresh dishes, seasonal ingredients and seafood. There will be a new line-up of fish rolls for an easy lunch break – such as confit tuna and ogleshield melt – plus a fish platter for sharing. Alongside the new menu, The Grand Duchess will also be offering takeaway fish and chips and seafood rolls, ready to eat along the canal.

Happy Burger at Allegra
Just seven minutes from King’s Cross and with views of London’s skylines, Allegra’s 50-seat rooftop terrace is one of the capital’s hidden gems. On 15th April, the team will launch Happy Burger. The four-week pop-up will offer a concise and playful menu prepared by head chef Patrick Powell. Highlights will include ‘The Happy Burger’, an Oklahoma-style onion burger with American cheese; fried chicken with mustard fruit and aioli; and a rhubarb and custard doughnut. Throughout the month, Happy Burger will welcome a series of chefs from top London restaurants including Perilla, Mangal 2, Anglo Thai and the soon-to-be launched Planque in Haggerston.

Ivy Soho Brasserie
The Ivy Soho Brasserie – along with the rest of the Ivy Collection – will be reopening its heated and covered terraces on 12th April for outdoor dining. Guests will be able to catch up with friends and loved ones outdoors while enjoying a selection of wines, cocktails and Ivy classics including chicken milanese, shepherd’s pie and the chocolate bombe. In line with government guidelines, guests will be able to reserve tables of up to six guests from separate households.

The Berkeley Beach Huts
Following last summer’s sell-out success of ‘The Garden’, this year The Berkeley hotel is transforming its outdoor space into a beach hut pop-up, inspired by British seafronts including Whitstable, Southwold and Padstow. Celebrating staycation season, five rainbow-coloured beach huts will sit centre stage, while countertop and terrace dining will be available for diners to enjoy seaside fare and retro classics. The menu will embrace family-style dining with seafood front and centre, including crab on sourdough, baked scallops and grilled langoustine. Fish and chips will be given a five-star twist, with large plates of grilled sea trout, sea bass and lobster accompanied by fries, and its ‘Seaside benedict’ will combine smoked salmon and caviar flatbread.

Smokestak is set to reopen its terrace in Shoreditch. Guests will be able to dine under a new canopy and can expect a BBQ-led menu including much-loved favourites and new spring dishes from founder David Carter. The new awning is designed to protect guests from unpredictable weather, window-style panels will allow sunlight to flood through, and come evening it will become a cosily lit space. Diners will be able to take their pick from chipotle caramel wings, salt-baked beetroot with goats’ cheese and hazelnut and buns filled pastrami, pickles, mustard and dill.

Koya City’s 50-seater covered terrace in the Bloomberg Arcade is set to reopen on 12th April. The much-loved udon noodle hotspot’s al fresco space will mirror the same pared-back, Japanese-style décor as the restaurant, and offers both hot and cold noodle dishes and some of the best tempura we’ve tried in the capital.

Wild By Tart
Wild by Tart is reopening with a scaled-back menu, offering diners courtyard seating in Eccleston Yards for dinner on Monday-Saturday and lunch on Wednesdays. The area is covered, providing a roof and insulation from the unpredictable British weather to ensure an enjoyable dining experience, which will focus on seasonal and sustainable ingredients.

Pantechnicon is all set to reopen its roof garden to guests on Motcomb Street, providing great views of Belgravia. The menu is inspired by a taste of Nordic and Japanese cultures – think beetroot macadamia with sea beet and mushroom. Come 12th April, diners will be able to dine in its Nordic garden on the terrace, created by Finnish horticulturalist Taina.

Dalston hotspot Angelina will reopen its covered terrace on 12th April. Rather than paring things back, the team is celebrating the end of lockdown with a special dining experience for groups of six, with no compromises on the food. In its usual style, the restaurant will merge the techniques and flavours of Italian and Japanese cuisines to create an omakase and kaiseki tasting menu, served in a warm, unfussy setting. The covered terrace will make it possible to dine whatever the weather.

This sustainability-focused restaurant concept opened on Heddon Street weeks before the UK’s first lockdown, and has gone from strength to strength since, receiving critical acclaim as well a Bib Gourmand from Michelin. The menu, designed by head chefs Will Murray and Jack Croft (formerly of two-Michelin-starred Dinner by Heston), focuses on ‘root-to-stem’ and ‘nose-to-tail’ dishes, with roughly half of each menu being plant-based. An outdoor terrace will be the ideal spot to try their wares if you didn’t manage to before lockdown.

The Dorchester Rooftop
The Dorchester Rooftop launches on 12th April, just in time to celebrate the hotel’s 90th anniversary. Making the most of the longer days and sunsets across Hyde Park, it will showcase a series of culinary pop-ups overseen by executive chef Mario Perera. From 12th-25th April, Tom Booton will introduce a British summertime menu showcasing locally sourced produce for his ‘land, sea and garden’ concept. Then from 26th April-9th May, Alain Ducasse will introduce a modern, light and elegantly informal pop-up. Further residencies will be announced later in the year.

Robin and Sarah Gill have announced a new dining terrace at Bermondsey Larder, their most recent opening. The 46-seater, partially covered terrace will launch on 14th April, giving diners the chance to enjoy Robin’s menu of inventive produce-led plates as well as a new selection of wines and cocktails. Open from Wednesdays through to Sundays, the team will serve dishes that follow the same ethos of the restaurant, working closely with their network of producers to create a menu of seasonal British plates, including truffled Baron Bigod with fig and walnut toast.
