Dune
Dune is a sci-fi film directed by Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049) and the first of a two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel of the same name. Set on a fictional desert planet, it sees a group head out on a dangerous journey to find the most valuable substance in the universe: a drug that extends human life. Starring Timothée Chalamet, Stellan Skarsgård, Zendaya and Javier Bardem to name a few.

Eternals
The latest title in the Marvel universe series, Eternals is set after the events in Avengers: Endgame as an immortal alien race emerges from hiding to protect Earth from its evil counterparts. An impressive roster of stars includes Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanijani, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie.

Last Night in Soho
From the director of Shaun Of The Dead and Baby Driver comes Last Night In Soho, a psychological thriller that has been deemed one of the most anticipated films this season. In it, a young woman who has a sixth sense is transported back to the 60s in the body of an iconic nightclub singer and suffers horrifying consequences.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage
This sequel superhero film sees Tom Hardy reprise his role as Eddie Brock/Venom, a journalist acting as the host body for an alien that gives him superhuman abilities. Set one year after the first movie, it sees Brock attempt to boost his career by interviewing a serial killer who later transforms into an alien supervillain.

Dear Evan Hansen
This feature film version of a hit Broadway show tells the story of socially awkward Evan (Ben Platt) who, after a misunderstanding with a letter, is regarded as the only friend of a classmate who committed suicide. When the mix-up snowballs into an out-of-control lie, Evan is forced to admit to himself and others the reality of the situation.

The French Dispatch
Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch premiered at Cannes earlier this year and hits cinemas here later this month. Telling three distinct stories, the film is inspired by Anderson’s love of The New Yorker magazine, with some tales referencing real-life events. Billy Murray leads the cast, with Owen Wilson, Elisabeth Moss, Jason Schwartzman and Tilda Swinton also starring.

Somewhere You Feel Free
This documentary covers a two-year period in the life of music icon Tom Petty, when he created what many consider his most poignant album, Wildflowers. Featuring never-before-seen archive footage and interviews with colleagues and friends, it provides an intimate picture of the musician. An excellent choice if you’re looking to punctuate all the action movies this season.

The Last Duel
Based on real-life events, The Last Duel is set in 14th-century France during the Hundred Years War. Directed by Ridley Scott (Gladiator, The Martian), it stars Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Ben Affleck and Jodie Comer. Damon and Driver play squires and brothers in arms who are turned against each other when a count (Affleck) causes trouble and one of them is accused of a truly unforgivable act.

House of Gucci
This true-life crime story is directed by the ever busy Ridley Scott and based on the book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. Popstar Lady Gaga plays Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife tried and convicted of planning the murder of Maurizio Gucci, her husband and ex-head of the family fashion house. Maurizio is played by another busy man, Adam Driver.

Bull
Bull is a Brit thriller not to miss this winter. Through a series of flashbacks, it follows a mysterious man who has returned home after a decade with a couple of goals: to seek revenge on those who have double-crossed him, and get answers to questions he has about his past. Directed by Paul Andrew Williams, whose work includes the hit ITV crime show Broadchurch, it stars David Hayman and Neil Maskell.

King Richard
This biographical drama tells the story of Richard Williams, father and coach of superstar tennis players Venus and Serena. Starring Will Smith as Richard, it maps the journey of the family from the streets of Compton to global sports stardom. It premiered earlier this season to rave reviews.
