You’ve probably heard Wham!, Slade and Shakin’ Stevens enough this season. For anyone who fancies a change of pace, we’ve rounded up 15 of the best Spotify playlists – including a cool Christmas Day mix and a party edit for New Year’s Eve.

FOR DINNER PARTIES: Palace G by Thomas Straker

Chef and TikTok star Thomas Straker has a selection of Spotify playlists, and we like this mix for a casual dinner party. Maribou State, Maverick Sabre and Joy Crooks launch in with relaxed vibes before tracks by Peggy Gou and Joe Hertz ramp it up later on.

FOR DRINKS WITH THE BOYS: Disclosure’s Record Bag

If you’re hosting the guys over Christmas, this is a tidy playlist with something for everyone. Curated by Disclosure, it includes more than 1,000 songs (that’s over 24 hours of music), featuring the group’s favourite tracks of all time from Daft Punk, Bicep, Slowthai, Tom Misch and Cher. Massimo’s top picks include tracks from Carole King, Macy Gray, Norah Jones and Lauryn Hill.

FOR A KILLER MIX: Idris Elba’s DJ Mix

Idris Elba isn’t just Stringer Bell from The Wire. Or Luther. He’s been DJing since the early noughties and went mainstream with his dancehall anthem ‘Boasty’ back in 2019. A slightly different tempo, this DJ set is one long mix of dance songs by Low Steppa, Inner City and TCTS.
