The Day Of The Jackal, HBO + Now

The Day of the Jackal is based on the classic 1971 book by Frederick Forsyth about a lone wolf and his global-scale threat. And if it’s anything like the 90s Bruce Willis flick, we’ll be hooked. An unrivalled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal (Eddie Redmayne) makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who starts to track him in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake. With a fresh twist on the source material, the ten-part series promises a slick chase across the world as the hunter becomes the hunted.

Yellowstone Series 5, Part 2, Paramount+

With the end of the show now in sight, take this as your opportunity to catch up on Taylor Sheridan’s brilliantly OTT cowboy drama. In part one of the fifth season, we saw John Dutton (Kevin Costner) take his fight to the halls of government. But with greater power comes further scrutiny of his family, his land and the morally questionable measures he’s taken to protect them both. Senna, Netflix

Senna will explore the three-time Formula 1 champion’s racing career, from the moment he moved to England to compete in Formula Ford all the way to his tragic accident in the San Marino Grand Prix. Over six episodes, the miniseries dramatises for the first time Ayrton Senna's journey through triumphs, disappointments, joys and sorrows, revealing his personality and personal relationships. Senna is played by Brazilian actor Gabriel Leone, who appeared in Michael Mann’s excellent Ferrari as Alfonso de Portago.

Sonny Boy By Al Pacino

Landman, Paramount+

And if you’re already up to speed on Yellowstone? Paramount+ has lined up a new Taylor Sheridan series set in blue-collar America. Diving into the boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series will star Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton as crisis executive Tommy Norris, who tries to bring his company to the top during a fuelling boom. It also stars Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia and Michael Peña as a collection of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires trying to get rich quick as oil rigs begin to take over the Lone Star State.

Gladiator II

This one is so huge, it barely needs an entry on this list. From legendary director Ridley Scott, Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical emperors who now control Rome with an iron fist. If you’ve been impressed with Denis Villeneuve’s cinematic epics, this fresh Dune-adjacent series should appeal. Starring Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May and Mark Strong, it’s set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides. Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.
