THE LAUNCH

DS & Durga Debaser In Bloom

For the launch of its latest fragrance, Brooklyn scent house DS & Durga became the first brand to take over the Rough Trade East record store in Brick Lane. Debaser In Bloom is a remix of the brand's cult fig fume Debaser, inspired by 90s grunge culture. While George Vjesticas of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds spun records, guests got a whiff of the 90s scent profiles – the nostalgic aroma of tapes (which founder David told us smelled like orange), amplified with fruit and flower notes. The party’s details impressed – and offered a taste of what was to come once wearing the fragrance out in the wild: fig-topped pizza slices matched the top notes, a Nirvana tribute act gave a sense of time and place, and there were ‘gig posters’ of the bottles to take home. 10/10 for execution.

THE EVENT

Ashcombe x Carousel

This summer, the Wiltshire estate of filmmaker Guy Ritchie will once again host a series of food-focused events in collaboration with London restaurant collective Carousel. Across selected weekends from May to September, guests can stay for two nights on the estate, with accommodation in the farmhouse and newly added suites inspired by 19th-century New England shooting lodges. Breakfast is included each morning, while the main event takes place on Saturday evening. Guests will travel by the estate’s gun bus to New Lake, where a guest chef will prepare a multi-course dinner cooked over fire, accompanied by matched wines, beers and cocktails. Throughout the weekend there are also opportunities to take part in workshops led by the Carousel team, alongside outdoor activities including sauna sessions and wild swimming. Having been last year, we can’t recommend it enough.

THE INSPO

Connolly Driving Edit

For over 100 years, Connolly has been connected with classic motor racing and touring. Now it’s created the Driving Edit for SS26. Connolly’s driving styles are designed to work together while seamlessly integrating into a wardrobe. Craftsmanship sits at the centre of each piece: the Denim Rally Jeans are cut from 12oz Japanese yarn-dyed denim, sanforised to reduce shrinkage, and constructed by specialist denim seamsters in Italy. The Single-Breasted Driving Jacket is knitted from Swiss technical wool, making it naturally water repellent and hard wearing. The Driving Loafers are made from a soft, supple suede upper with a racing-green rubber sole, made in Italy. Accessories include the CB Driving Goggles, made in England from smooth-grain leather with road-approved lenses, and the Sports Grip crafted from Connolly’s signature car upholstery leather.

THE COOKBOOK

To Entertain by Jago Rackham

Jago Rackham’s food is messy, baroque and sculptural, leaning on tradition to produce odd innovations. He designs banquets for events such as Frieze, as well as sold-out pop-ups in the UK, America and Europe. Crowding his friends around a table in his east London flat, refilling glasses deep into the night, and cooking generously and lavishly every week for the last few years has trained him in the art of hosting. In To Entertain, Jago guides readers through inviting guests, transforming a tiny space into a true dining experience, entertaining on limited funds, and assembling a menu for every occasion. Weaving advice and reflections on food and friendship with indulgent recipes, this love letter to sitting around a table is practical as well as being a pleasure to read.

THE SCENT

Penhaligon's Bold Blend

Penhaligon’s new Bold Blend aims to awaken the senses. Created by master perfumer Paul Guerlain, Bold Blend is fresh, direct and invigorating, an aromatic green composition designed to stir instinct and spark momentum. For the first time in Penhaligon’s palette, a palo santo accord introduces an aromatic contrast long associated with introspection and vitality, adding dimension and modernity. There are further fragrance notes of peppermint, violet leaf and clary sage.

THE RESTAURANT

Impala

Named after the cherry-red 1964 Chevrolet Impala that chef-founder Meedu Saad drove around during his summers in Egypt, Impala is a charcoal-grill restaurant with influences from North Africa to North London. Opening on Dean Street on 26th March in a 1960s concrete building, its open-fire grill sits at the centre of the room. Surrounding tables and stools will glimpse beef ribs cooking over the glowing coals, and plates of sardines in grape leaves and wild greens braised in olive oil passing by. In classic Egyptian style, chefs will control the temperature by hand fan. The aim is to create an atmosphere that collides the energies of the Friday markets in Cairo and Soho bars. Impala has been designed by Super 8 (Kiln, Brat, Mountain) co-founder Benjamin Chapman alongside long-time collaborator, designer Dan Preston – so we already know we’ll be in good hands.

THE COLLAB

JW Anderson x Guinness

You don’t need us to tell you that Guinness is still the drink of the moment. Now you can show off your love of the black stuff with an item from the second capsule by JW Anderson. A collaboration celebrating a shared Irish heritage and commitment to craft, its campaign features actor Joe Alwyn and singer Little Simz, shot at – where else? – the Devonshire. We rate the Guinness harp jumper in dark brown, made in a soft alpaca blend.

THE FLAGSHIP STORE

Ferrari London

Ferrari’s new flagship store occupies pole position in Mayfair. Right where Old Bond Street meets Piccadilly, it launched last week with a grand opening party and an appearance by Sir Lewis Hamilton, coming into town hot from a podium finish at the Chinese Grand Prix. The historic exterior of the store stands in deliberate contrast to the hand-brushed stainless steel and glass vitrines that define its ultra-contemporary interior. Of course there are accents of red too across its multiple levels, where Ferrari Style’s ready-to-wear, accessories and collectibles are presented as curated artefacts. The basement Caveau is a private chamber dedicated to rare Ferrari components and collectibles sourced from Maranello, while the upper floor houses the Tailor Made Atelier, a dedicated space for made-to-order creations.
