The SLMan Hot List: June

The SLMan Hot List gives you all the inspiration, recommendations and ideas you need for the month ahead. From a bunch of wearable sports collabs to the latest film and book to discover, here are the coolest things to check out in June…

The Collab

Roger Federer Collection By JW Anderson

JW Anderson has just dropped another collab collection with Uniqlo. This time, tennis champ Roger Federer has come to the party. Fresh from dressing the big-screen stars of Challengers, Anderson isn’t done celebrating the sport’s rich history and classic aesthetic. Inspired by vintage tenniswear designs and silhouettes from the 70s and 80s, this collection is built on versatility, technicality and style. The trio have come up with a simple yet sophisticated uniform for players and non-players alike: the palette focuses on sage greens and charcoal greys, while timeless pieces like the off-court polo shirt and active shorts are updated twist with a bold stripe.

The Dish

Gerry’s Hot Subs

A month or so ago we wandered down Exmouth Street after an evening raising a negroni to the late Russell Norman at Brutto. Alongside the ever-busy Moro, the thing that caught our attention was the retro sign for Gerry’s Hot Subs. The place was still in the building stages then, but is now open as a next-level sandwich shop from the man who made a success of Bodean’s. Independently owned, Gerry’s is built on a lifelong passion for American food and decades of experience in the restaurant world. The team slow-cooks, cures, BBQs and prepares all the fillings and freshly bakes the subs. We’ve got our eye on the Philly cheesesteak.

The Campaign

‘The Spirit of the Faubourg’ features a collection of fun, tongue-in-cheek luggage stickers capturing the journey from 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris to 706 Madison Avenue in New York – look out for a cavalryman, a horseshoe, a Greek-style lamp, Western-tied scarfs and padlocks along the way. Even if you can’t afford an Hermès bag or scarf, it’s been enough to get us thinking about adding some stickers to our own suitcase this summer. And if you can, we like this Grand Prix number.

The Shop

Atelier Saman Amel

Atelier Saman Amel was founded by childhood friends Saman Amel and Dag Granath in 2015 in Stockholm. Rooted in the art of handmade tailoring, the brand aims to create pieces of exceptional quality that are as relevant today as they will be decades from now. Next month sees it arrive in London. At 17 Albemarle Street, it will offer the ultimate Atelier Saman Amel experience: by appointment only, the team can introduce you to its made-to-measure suits, jackets, outerwear, custom knitwear and accessories.

The Film

The Bikeriders

The Bikeriders captures a rebellious time in America when the culture and people were changing. After a chance encounter at a local bar, strong-willed Kathy (Jodie Comer) is inextricably drawn to Benny (Austin Butler), the newest member of a Midwestern motorcycle club, the Vandals, led by the enigmatic Johnny (Tom Hardy). Much like the country around it, the club begins to evolve, transforming from a gathering place for local outsiders into a dangerous underworld of violence, forcing Benny to choose between Kathy and his loyalty to the club.

The Holiday

Hut-To-Hut Alpage

This summer, Eleven is offering groups the chance to hike from France to Italy as part of a three-day hut-to-hut experience that combines modern comforts and age-old alpine traditions. Expert local guides will lead guests through jaw-dropping mountain scenery, following a historic route that can be tailored to all fitness levels. Designed as a backcountry experience for up to eight guests, everything starts from the Le Miroir chalets and includes overnighters in two private mountain huts, set deep in the Alps. Historically the huts of sheep herders, the stone buildings date back to the early 1900s. On arrival at each, travellers will appreciate the contemporary addition of talented chefs serving après al fresco followed by a candlelit dinner paired with hand-foraged Génépi liqueur.
