THE SHOES

Filson X Birkenstock

Seattle’s Filson has long been one of the most authentic outdoor outfitters out there. It’s been around since the 1800s, but in the last decade it has cemented itself in the UK as a go-to brand for all-American style – and it has the reputation among ranchers, loggers and mountaineers to back it up. New for the season is a collab a little closer to home – a collection of mules and boots with Birkenstock. The three styles are crafted from durable materials like Mackinaw wool, waxed cotton, leather and suede. Designed for both comfort and adventure, the boots and moccasins feature earthy tones and antique brass accents, with the Lahti and Skykomish styles offering removable Deep Blue footbeds for enhanced support.

THE RESTAURANT

Buster’s

The team behind award-winning Clapham restaurant Ploussard and cult fried-chicken outfit Other Side Fried have launched a third concept. Opening in Brixton this week, Buster’s burger bar sees the pair go from poultry to prime cuts, with a menu that champions simplicity, flavour and top-tier ingredients such as Welsh wagyu. Buster's burgers will be cooked medium and served in a homemade potato roll, alongside locally brewed beers and pet nat by the glass. We can’t wait to try the cheeseburger, which features a wagyu beef patty, American cheese, green peppercorn dijonnaise and a buttered potato roll.

THE OUTERWEAR

Barbour X Baracuta

Barbour and Baracuta have built on the success of their first collaboration with an expanded range for AW24. The launch celebrates the brands’ shared 200 years of British heritage and northern roots. Fronted by model and podcaster Danny Lomas, the campaign was shot in the streets of Manchester and pays homage to the northern British sub-cultures that adopted Baracuta jackets in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Expect a collection of striking outerwear styles (think classic wax jackets with bold tartan pockets) alongside eye-catching sweaters, shirts, T-shirts and accessories.

THE CAMPAIGN

Red Wing

Red Wing Heritage is encouraging customers to keep their boots for years – decades, hopefully – by creating tiny wills designed to be stitched into boot tongues for the next generation of wearers. Launched this month for the brand’s ‘Will Your Wings’ campaign, fabric with ‘Worn By’ and ‘Left To’ fields can be stitched into the tongues of boots, designating who will be next to own them. The campaign is a cool reminder of the brand’s commitment to high-quality, handcrafted products that are built to last – and get even better with age.

THE MENSWEAR COLLAB

Sunspel X Nigel Cabourn

Sunspel has teamed up with renowned British designer Nigel Cabourn for a second time. The collection is inspired by brands’ rich archives and consists of a range of pieces in heritage fabrics. Ventile, a waterproof fabric invented in the 1930s, is used for the mesh-lined jacket which reimagines a 1981 army sports jacket from Cabourn’s archive. There’s a Balmacaan wool-cashmere coat crafted from British-woven wool, plus a wide-neck jumper made from soft merino wool. The capsule is completed by a long-sleeve striped roll-neck and t-shirt, with everything made in Sunspel’s Long Eaton factory.
