THE COMEDY: Brothers
Starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, Brothers follows the pair, as they play fictionalised versions of themselves whose friendship is thrown into chaos when they uncover a decades-old secret. After Woody’s daughter’s wedding falls apart, he loads up the family and heads to Austin for an extended stay at Matthew’s ranch. But what begins as a healing getaway quickly spirals when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (played by Holland Taylor), accidentally lets slip a long-buried secret that the two friends might actually be brothers. As Woody turns the ranch upside down in pursuit of the truth, Matthew finds himself juggling an entirely different identity crisis: a potential run for governor of Texas.

THE SPY COMEDY: Mayday

Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser) must make the final call. With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance. The film’s stellar cast is rounded out with Damian Lewis in the role of Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery and Chris Messina as Irving P. Krick, Eisenhower’s trusted wartime meteorologist.

THE DRAMA: Last Seen
Last Seen is an Australian thriller starring Patrick Brammall. The gripping drama is adapted from Ryan David Jahn’s book The Dispatcher. The life of police detective Ian Ridley (Brammall) fell apart 11 years ago when his young daughter Maggie disappeared without a trace. Now working as a police dispatcher, the only thing that has kept him going is his implacable refusal to accept that she might be gone forever. When he receives a distress call from a teenage girl, he is certain it’s Maggie, and will stop at nothing to find her and reunite his broken family.

THE TRUE STORY: American Hostage
American Hostage is a high-stakes anthology series starring Jon Hamm. Based on the acclaimed scripted podcast of the same name, it’s a psychological thriller set in the 1970s that tells the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman, a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who is thrust into the middle of a life-or-death crisis when hostage-taker Tony Kiritsis demands to be interviewed on his popular radio news program. Having seen the excellent Dead Man’s Wire – starring Bill Skarsgård and based on the same true story – we’re interested to see how this lines up.

THE HISTORICAL DRAMA: The Uprising
In 1381, a plague sweeps across Europe, killing half the population of England. As King Richard II and the oligarchs impose a brutal tax on the poorest members of society, a discontented farmer (Andrew Garfield) erupts into full-blown anger. THE FAVOURITE: Slow Horses – Series 6
Apple TV’s band of dysfunctional British intelligence agents, who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5, are back for a sixth season. Already honoured with Golden Globe, Emmy and Bafta nominations for his outstanding performance in the series, Gary Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but cantankerous leader of the spies who have ended up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes. Season six sees the Slow Horses on the run as Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge.

THE SECOND SERIES: SNL UK
Saturday Night Live UK is back. Following its hit inaugural season earlier this year, the live comedy returns to Sky and streaming service Now this month. Six new episodes will bring a fresh season of unpredictable Saturday night television, with additional shows planned in early 2027. Broadcast live each week, the series will once again welcome a different celebrity host and musical guest for every episode, alongside topical sketches, live music performances and a British take on the iconic Weekend Update segment.

THE CONCERT FILM: Pulp: What Do You Do For An Encore?
Pulp: What Do You Do For An Encore? is a celebration of one of Britain's most unusual bands, captured during their triumphant 2025 tour. Directed by longtime collaborator Garth Jennings and narrated by Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, the film weaves together footage from their live show with four decades of never-before-seen archival material, charting the band’s circuitous journey from Sheffield outsiders to unlikely cultural icons. Featuring 20 songs spanning the course of their career, the film is a tribute to a band of misfits whose sharp social commentary and enduring empathy continue to resonate across generations. The film hits cinemas for one-night only on 18th September, before arriving on Mubi later this autumn.
