Taste of London food festival is back with a festive edition. From today until Sunday 21st November, visitors can feast on a range of Alpine-inspired food and drink at Tobacco Dock in east London. Highlights include British-Afghan fusion barbecue bites from Cue Point, Sri Lankan party food from Jaffna Kitchen, and 24-hour marinated jerk chicken from SLMan favourite Juici Jerk. Play a round of crazy golf at the on-site Ballers course, and book onto a masterclass – we suggest the 45-minute ‘Around the Barrel’ wine tasting. If you want to go all out, book a table at the Après Ski Club House hosted by Laurent-Perrier or step inside the Grey Goose Alpine Chalet for vodka martinis. Tickets start from £17.

On Friday 19th November, Rowing Blazers will open its first London pop-up store in Covent Garden. Known for its cool athleisurewear, from slogan tees and sweatshirts to striped rugby polos and ski clothing, the brand has everything you need to stand out on the slopes. If varsity style sweats aren’t your thing, make a beeline for the menswear edit, then take a look at the James Bond framed prints and vintage watches.

Tom Dixon has partnered up with Sotheby's for a five-day pop-up restaurant which opens its doors today. Inside Sotheby's auction house, the pop-up features Tom Dixon furniture and accessories, plus rare plants and vintage Willy Guhl planters – all available to buy. The restaurant has a breakfast and lunch menu, while Joy chef Stevie Parle will host supper clubs each night. Across the menus, dishes made with seasonal ingredients include the likes of Galloway beef with pickled elderberries, cured egg yolk and crisp bread; Scottish langoustine roasted with butter and seaweed; risotto bianco with white truffles; and nutmeg custard tart.

Regular SLMan readers will know we rate Honest Burgers, so we were excited to hear it has collaborated with chef Jay Morjaria for a limited-edition ‘Kimchi Burger’. Available at all Honest Burgers sites this month, the South Korean-inspired dish combines a beef patty with bulgogi BBQ bacon (similar to grilled pork belly), double American cheese, Korean burger sauce, spring onion butter, kimchi and lettuce. Ask for a side of rosemary chips, then wash it down with a couple of Burger Beers, made in collab with Brighton’s Laine Brew Co.

Truman Brewery’s Christmas beer market takes place on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th November. The festival has some great craft beers from top London breweries, including Big Smoke, Two Tribes, Signature Brew, Hackney Brewery and Mondo. Visitors can also try natural wines and mulled cider, plus festive food from 10 Greek Street, Beer & Burger and From the Ashes – think barbecued meats and kebabs with a festive twist. Pick up gifts from the Christmas market and enjoy music from the live gospel choir. Tickets cost £20 and cover entry, a tote bag and one Christmas beer.

Crime novelist James Patterson is a master of the whodunnit. Now his most famous character, Met Police detective Alex Cross, will be brought to life in The Judge, The Jury and James Patterson at Bethnal Green Town Hall on Wednesday 24th November. The one-off show is an immersive experience that will transport you to a courtroom to decide whether detective Cross is innocent or guilty of a gruesome triple murder – and Patterson himself is set to make a cameo. Tickets cost £15, including a welcome drink and signed copy of Patterson’s 1993 bestseller, Along Came a Spider.

Choose Love supports refugees around the world. The charity has just opened a pop-up store on Carnaby Street where you can buy items and services for refugees, which will then be delivered directly to those in need across Europe, the Middle East and on the US-Mexico border. Choose from ‘bundles of warmth’, which includes warm clothing and shoes, hot food, and blankets and sleeping bags; ‘saving lives bundles’ made for those who have left their homes and arrived in a new country; and ‘bundles of love’ for unaccompanied children.
