Wondering what to do this weekend? SLMan has you covered. From new films and restaurant specials to the wine club to know about, here’s what to get stuck into…

GO TO THE CINEMA

83

Need to take your mind off the Ashes? This new Bollywood film tells the story of India’s against-the-odds triumph at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Led by soon-to-be icon Kapil Dev (Ranveer Singh), the Indians came into the tournament having won only one match across the previous two World Cups. They eventually defeated the mighty West Indies in the final at Lord’s. 83 describes their unlikely journey to ultimate success.

FEAST ON THIS

Wagamama’s Vegan Fish & Chips

Wagamama has created plant-based fish and chips with an Asian twist for Veganuary. The ‘Tempura F-ish + Bang Bang Yaki-imo’ is a Japanese take on the British classic, made with tempura coated ‘f-ish’ from a mix of soy, rice and pea protein to replicate the taste and flaky texture of fish. It’s served old-school style on newspaper alongside sweet potato chunks and red onion coated in Waga’s signature firecracker sauce, smashed minty edamame beans, and katsu curry sauce. Available at all restaurants nationwide.

TUNE INTO THIS PODCAST

Walking On Jupiter

In the UK, men are three times more likely to commit suicide than women. This dramatised podcast encourages an important conversation around men’s mental health. Narrated by actor Stephen Graham (This is England, Line of Duty) Walking On Jupiter is a true story about surviving suicide. Thomas tried to take his own life twice – and, technically, he died twice. This honest and, at times, tragically funny story details the battle that took place inside and outside his head.
