Jackson Boxer X Owen Seamark At Heckfield Place

For the conclusion of Heckfield Place’s 2024 supper series, it has pulled out the big guns. Prolific chef and restaurateur Jackson Boxer – the creative mastermind behind Brunswick House and Orasay – will join Owen Seamark, head chef at Heckfield Place’s Hearth, for an evening of open-flame cooking, using the best produce from the venue’s biodynamic farm. There will be poached leeks served with crab, fried capers, brown butter and chamomile vinegar; roast chicken stuffed with pork and truffle farce alongside a leafy green salad; grilled potatoes with mushroom hollandaise; and much, much more. The three-course menu is £95 a head, including a welcoming drink.

Punch

James Graham is the playwright everyone’s talking about. His recent work, Dear England, commissioned by the National Theatre, explored Gareth Southgate’s transformation of the national football team. He’s currently adapting it for TV with the BBC. In early 2024, he scored another hit in his near hometown of Nottingham with Punch, a gripping true story of violence and redemption that will transfer to the Young Vic early next year – tickets are now on sale. Based on Jacob Dunne's book Right from WrongPunch follows Jacob, who kills a promising young paramedic with a single punch, and shows how his victim’s bereaved parents helped him turn his life around. With sensational reviews from Nottingham, this powerful tale highlights the devastating consequences of one reckless moment.

Grab Sunday Lunch

Kricket Brixton

After finding success with it at its Canary Wharf outpost, Kricket is bringing its Sunday lunch offering to its flagship Brixton location. The menu stays true to the group’s signature Anglo-Indian flavours – the pièce de résistance is a whole charcoal-grilled tandoori chicken. Swap the roasties for pink fir potatoes and the yorkshire pudding for black garlic and dried chilli raita, and you can get a picture of the kind of spread on offer. The bloody maharaja is a must-order to soften the weekend's blow.

The Libertines

The latest band on the rock revival train is The Libertines, who have just announced they’ll be touring next year, with a big date in Gunnersbury Park. They will be supported by Supergrass, Lambrini Girls, Soft Play and Hak Baker. Tickets go on sale on 8th November, and if the Oasis ticket debacle is anything to go by, we imagine they will sell out fast.
