What To Do This Weekend 27.11.24
Ditch Your Scratchy Jumpers
Johnstons of Elgin
This kind of weather calls for cashmere and merino wool, which few do better than Scottish heritage brand Johnstons of Elgin. It’s just opened a London store in Burlington Arcade, where it rubs shoulders with the likes of Crockett & Jones and David Duggan. That’s where we're heading to land a few top-tier winter essentials – jumpers, beanies, scarves and gloves – and maybe pick up some personalised cashmere gifts for the in-laws.

Glenmorangie X Paradise
Glenmorangie has teamed up with excellent Soho restaurant Paradise for a whisky-inspired dining experience. The six-course menu pairs the restaurant’s signature Sri Lankan cuisine with Glenmorangie, including cocktails and a dram of the rare Infinita 18 Year Old malt. This unlikely pairing of Scotland and Sri Lanka has proved to be very popular, as two extra dates were recently added to the calendar. Tickets are £65 per person.

Harry’s X Shout X Guild Gaming
If lying down on a shrink’s couch doesn’t sound appealing, how about talking through a headset while gaming? Grooming brand Harry’s has partnered with mental health charity Shout and Guild Gaming for a special series. Tying in with Men’s Health Awareness Month, Talk Squad is a unique trial of mental health sessions aimed at fostering awareness within the gaming community. The free sessions will be one to one with Shout-trained clinicians, and you can game while chatting openly and honestly, in a way that might feel more natural and more comfortable.

Los Mochis Ten-Course Tuna Ceremony
It’s hard to grasp the sheer size of a bluefin tuna until you see one up close. At Los Mochis’s exclusive ten-course experience, you can do just that. With just 12 guests per sitting, the experience centres on a sustainably sourced whole tuna from Balfegó in Spain. Guided by exec chef Tanyag, guests will be shown the prep technique of each cut before they’re served a ten-course Japanese feast featuring those very slices. Dishes include akami yuzu soy and avocado tostadito, akami carpaccio with wasabi truffle and crispy onion, and spicy tuna tempura maki. Equal parts dining and performance art, this unique event costs £195 a head and runs every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

Quill
Not content with serving great wine to the Brixton Market and Covent Garden crowds, the team behind Plume and Finch have added Borough Market’s Quill to their portfolio. Set in a former railway arch at Borough Yards, it’s a sleek space with a mezzanine overlooking a steel-topped bar and dining area. The wine list focuses on English bottles and lesser-known varieties, with reduced-margin options for those looking to explore without overpaying. Chef Rob Wade – a Chez Bruce alum – delivers a menu featuring boar hotdogs with bacon jam, and fried buttermilk chicken with tamarind chilli glaze.
