MEET YOUR MATES

Cellar, Hammersmith

New restaurant Cellar has just opened its doors in the basement of Hammersmith members club Kindred in Hammersmith. Headed up by chef Andrew Clarke, it has a traditional British menu that changes with the seasons. Choose from dishes like fried cod cheeks with harissa mayo and lemon; cured seatrout with radishes; mutton on flatbreads with pink onions, herb labneh and salsa verde; celeriac schnitzel with cavolo nero, wild mushrooms and garlic butter; and caramelised bread and butter pudding. Wash your meal down with a craft beer or cocktail – we like the sound of the ‘West 6 Buttered Up’ made with Portobello gin, Bonanto, passionfruit, fresh pineapple and lime.

In six first-person testimonies, the young men – Mike, Serge, Nick, Guellor, Chris and Omar – talk about growing up in some of the UK’s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods, inner city crime, and what it’s like being sent to jail at a young age and released with nothing.
