TRY A NEW WHISKY
Tokyo After Dark at Harrods
Glenfiddich has opened a pop-up bar and art installation in Harrods to celebrate its new 29 Year Old Grand Yozakura – the first single malt scotch finished in rare ex-Awamori casks. The ‘Tokyo After Dark’ experience is set across two spaces on the department store’s fifth floor: one with artwork created by Japanese-inspired ceramicist King Houndekpinkou; the other decorated like an izakaya and where you can learn about the Glenfiddich whiskies. Guests can also try a range of whisky cocktails at Harrods’ Baccarat Bar including: the ‘Barley Cider’ with Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment, oxidated plum cordial and clarified apple juice; and the ‘Copper Haze’ with Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Gran Reserva, mango, sudachi, brown sugar and wood smoke. There’s also the option to try a flight of the good stuff paired with sweet and savoury dishes – and caviar, naturally.
87-135 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, SW1X 7XL; until 29th June

GET DATE NIGHT RIGHT
Asma Khan's Biryani Supper Club
Indian chef Asma Khan is hosting another of her famous supper clubs on Sunday 11th June. It’s at her Carnaby restaurant Asma Khan Darjeeling Express – you might have spotted one of the previous nights on Netflix’s Chef’s Table. Sunday’s dinner is all about the humble street food staple biryani, which will be served in the traditional ‘dawaat’ style where everyone eats at the same time. Asma will prepare her family’s lamb and paneer biryanis alongside six other dishes, including tangra prawns, saag pakoras and bhel puri – puffed rice, potatoes and papri with tamarind chilli chutney. Dessert will be coconut ladoo (Indian sweet balls) with masala chai.
