London Craft Beer Festival

Now in its tenth year, London Craft Beer Festival takes place this weekend at the East End’s Tobacco Dock. From Friday 12th to Sunday 24th August, craft beer fans can try pints from over 100 breweries showcasing 1,000 different beers, plus street food from London restaurants like Fallow, Tacos Padre and Two Tribes Campfire. Expect to see old favourites and new brews by Five Points, The Kernel, Finback, Stone & Wood and more, and a few craft gins and natural wines from independent producers. Tickets start from £57.50pp which includes entry, all your beers from the breweries and a 10th anniversary beer tasting glass.

Axel Arigato Pop-Up at Selfridges

In the market for a new pair of sneakers? Regular SLMan readers will know we rate Axel Arigato’s slick designs, so we were pleased to hear it’s opened its biggest immersive sneaker pop-up to date in Selfridges. Open for the next 12 months and located in the menswear department, shoppers can browse some of the brand’s newest kicks and signature designs, including the Orbit sneakers and Court trainers. Expect to see sneakers fastened to corrugated iron and exposed wires in the futuristic space.

An Evening with Sir Lenny Henry At Alexandra Palace

Comedic legend Sir Lenny Henry is hosting a talk at Alexandra Palace on Saturday 6th September – and tickets have just gone on sale. During the talk, he’ll discuss his life and career to celebrate his new book Rising To The Surface, a prequel to his memoir. Lenny’s first taste of fame was as a 16-year-old competition winner, learning to navigate his way through the seas of professional comedy. You’ll hear about the days during his early gigs and behind-the-scenes stories from his 40-year career. Tickets start from £26.

RACE AGAINST THE CLOCK

Squid Game Experience

Squid Game is coming to the UK. Book ahead to be one of the first to experience the new game which lands at Immersive Gamebox sites in Southwark, Wandsworth, Essex and Manchester on Wednesday 21st September. Created in collaboration with Netflix, fans of the South Korean drama will be transported into a life-sized digital Squid Game where players race against the clock to complete six mini games – without the execution part, of course. There’s a giant ‘red light, green light’ doll, a honeycomb challenge and a tug of war. Each game uses projection mapping and 3D motion tracking to transport you into the game. Suitable for up to six players, tickets cost £34.

Legendary Moments at D'Stassi Art

D'Stassi Art gallery in Hoxton has just opened a new exhibition to commemorate some of the most memorable moments from the rock and punk music scene of the 1970s, shot by legendary rock photographers Bob Gruen and Leee Black Childers. Featuring iconic and never-before-seen images from the underground worlds of London and New York, the exhibition includes shots of Elvis Presley, The Clash, Sex Pistols and David Bowie – to name a few. Look out, too, for photos of John Lennon, who was close to Gruen when he lived in New York in the 70s.

The Galician Burger by Patty & Bun x HG Walter

Patty & Bun has teamed up with independent butchers HG Walter for its latest monthly special, The Galician Burger. Available at all sites for the duration of August, the burger includes a Rubia Gallega beef patty, double red Leicester cheese, pickles, onion and truffle mayo. Later this month, look out for the new Patty & Bun outpost in Canary Wharf where diners can get a 5L or 10L keg of beer delivered to their table for pour-your-own pints – stop by their pop-up van in Montgomery Square every Thursday in August to get a 50% off voucher for the new opening.

Sky Garden's Ibiza Summer Party

On Friday 19th August from 7pm until late, Sky Garden is hosting an Ibiza-themed summer party. For one night, the rooftop venue will be transformed into a Balearic-inspired party destination where guests can listen to live music by The Ibiza Live Orchestra Band. Expect to hear iconic Ibiza tracks by Pete Tong, Carl Cox and other big-name DJs, before DJs continue the party into the early hours. Tickets start from £55 which includes a welcome drink.

The Makavuzi Herd at The Natural History Museum

For one night only on Friday 12th August, the Natural History Museum will exhibit The Makavuzi Herd by Zimbabwean artist David Filer. The ‘herd’ is a collection of six life-size elephant drawings which Filer has meticulously created over five years – each member from the real-life herd in Africa. Created to help raise awareness for conservation efforts, Filer’s drawings are so life-like you won’t believe they’re not photographs.
