Cinch Championships At Queen’s Club

The 2022 Cinch Championships are underway at Queen’s Club – and there’s still time to get tickets. Andy Murray, Dan Evans, Matteo Berrettini, Grigor Dimitrov, Stan Wawrinka, Carlos Alcaraz – some of tennis’s biggest stars have been gracing the grass courts at this year’s traditional Wimbledon warm-up. Tickets start from £20 – just factor in the regular bar trips for Nyetimber fizz and Pimm’s.

TRY GREAT NOODLES

Koya & Ko Chef Udon Series

On Friday 17th June, Japanese noodle bar Koya & Ko kicks off a kitchen takeover at its Hackney site, featuring some of London’s best chefs. Each chef will create a special udon noodle dish (available for two weeks) to showcase cuisines from around the world. First up, it’s Max Rocha (of Cafe Cecilia fame) who will create a tea-stained egg breakfast udon bowl. Later in the series, expect dishes from Benjamin Chapman (Smoking Goat), Florence Knight (Sessions Arts Club) and Owen Barratt (Monty’s Deli), to name a few.

NQ64, Soho

Arcade bar NQ64 has opened its first London outpost in Soho. There are over 50 games and retro arcade machines to challenge your mates on, from Guitar Hero and Mario Kart to Pac-Man and Aku Aku Fruit Punch (based on Crash Bandicoot) – plus 30 original arcade and console games to have a crack at. Every night, DJs play hip hop at the neon-splattered bar, while mixologists serve character-inspired drinks and craft beers. There’s even a private room for parties.

JAM ON A ROOF

The Standard

The Standard hotel in King’s Cross has launched a summer rooftop series to showcase DJs, collectives and performers in the capital. ‘Sunday High’ sessions are inspired by Notting Hill’s carnival scene, with ten weeks of music from Club Yeke, Foundation FM, Heels & Souls and Prestige Pak. On Sunday night, order drinks from the rooftop bar then tune into the reggae, hip hop and R&B DJs and artists. Tickets are free.

The Grill Academy

BBQ master Landmann has launched an online Grill Academy so you can learn tips from pro chefs at home. Taking place across various dates from June to August, you’ll learn the basics of barbecuing over Zoom before creating a flame-grilled lunch. Classes include butcher masterclasses, how to make pizza on the BBQ, grill wagyu burgers to perfection and master a Mediterranean BBQ. Bermondsey Larder has opened a 40-seat terrace with a new menu. Expect dishes like lobster beignet, whole Dover sole and salt marsh lamb, all cooked outside on the grill. Finish the meal with a dessert like Campari sorbet or Eton mess. There’s also aperitivo hour from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesdays to Sundays – when cocktails come with crisps and crab mayo, and pints of Keller cost £5. On summer Saturday nights, count on ska sessions featuring reggae and funk music until closing.

Fancy a weekend with the boys? Body & Soul is a boutique festival taking place from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th June at Ballinlough Castle Estate in Leinster, Ireland.
