DITCH THE WEEKEND PAPERS FOR THIS: Rebel by Faith Morgan
Faith Morgan’s explosive memoir comes out tomorrow. Born into the infamous Children of God cult – otherwise known as 'The Family' – he escaped at 19, entering a world where he had to learn how to live again. Rebel is the extraordinary story of Morgan’s experience, told through the teenage diaries he wrote in Costa Rica, India, Greece, Mexico and London. Morgan details his dealings with the Prophet (cult leader David Berg) and the seeming inevitability of ‘the end’, which he fully believed would arrive. A chilling but fascinating read.
BROADEN YOUR HORIZONS: Ben Turnbull: American History RemiX
Pop artist Ben Turnbull is taking on America in this new exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery. Using the iconography of comics, action figures and other childhood paraphernalia, he tells the alternative history of the nation. Defining moments from the birth of the ‘American frontier’ to the assassination of Kennedy and the inauguration of Trump are all examined with a sceptical eye and raised eyebrow. The show spans 15 years’ worth of Turnbull’s work – look out for 2008’s Bring Me The Head of Saddam Hussein.
