BOOK A TABLE: Rick Stein Pop-Up At The Goring

Rick Stein returns to The Goring hotel this week – this time with his sons Jack and Charlie – for a pop-up celebrating Cornish produce. Rick and his team will serve his signature seafood which can be enjoyed in the hotel’s garden. Diners can tuck into a three-course lunch or dinner featuring dishes like whole dover sole with noisette butter; turbot with hollandaise sauce; seabass ceviche with red chilli, tomatoes, and avocado; and crispy smoked mackerel with green mango salad. Guests can also watch Jack and Charlie in a cooking demo, and attend a book signing with Rick. The pop-up will run until Sunday 20th June.

BROADEN YOUR HORIZONS: Ben Turnbull: American History RemiX

Pop artist Ben Turnbull is taking on America in this new exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery. Using the iconography of comics, action figures and other childhood paraphernalia, he tells the alternative history of the nation. Defining moments from the birth of the ‘American frontier’ to the assassination of Kennedy and the inauguration of Trump are all examined with a sceptical eye and raised eyebrow. The show spans 15 years’ worth of Turnbull’s work – look out for 2008’s Bring Me The Head of Saddam Hussein.

Tomorrow night, Black Bear Burger in Brixton Village will host Bone Daddies for a one-night restaurant takeover. Diners can choose from an exclusive mash-up menu featuring a dry-aged beef burger with American cheese, garlic miso mayo and pickled onions; Cock ’N’ Roll fried chicken wonton spring rolls with American cheese, Bone Daddies cock scratchings, red onion and Korean wing sauce; and skin-on Korean fries with Bone Daddies spiced cheese sauce.
