3 Experts Share Their Favourite New Tech

AI is stealing the spotlight, but there are plenty of other tech launches promising to make life better right now – and they come with less risk of a Terminator-style apocalypse. From cameras and home appliances to an upcoming Apple launch, this is what three experts have been impressed by recently…

QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, £299.95 | Bose

I had the AirPods Pro, but they broke a few days after the warranty expired and Apple wouldn't replace them. I decided to try something new and go to Bose for my next in-ear headphones. The sound quality on these is second to none, and the noise cancellation is perfect when you’re on the tube. You can easily switch to transparency mode, so you can hear your surroundings if needed.

Cleanstation Phone Sanitiser, £199.9 | Simplehuman

This is an expensive bit of tech, certainly not a necessity, but as someone who commutes regularly to London, I'm conscious of all the bacteria that my phone will pick up when I'm using it on the train. This device cleans your phone in 30 seconds so you can be sure it's germ free.

MagGo Power Bank, £69.99 | Anker

I'm always on the move and struggle to make my battery last all day. My phone often takes a hammering, and finding a decent power bank has been tricky. Often the cheaper power banks won't even last for one full phone charge. This new offering from Anker doubles up as a phone stand and magnetically clips to your iPhone, meaning you can still use it as normal while charging without any fuss.

Bespoke Jet, £449.99 | Samsung

I'm a big believer in ‘tidy house, tidy mind’. Samsung's new cordless vacuum cleaner is already in competition with Dyson and Shark. This powerful handstick doesn't just suck up dirt and hair; it can mop hard floors and even clean itself. Plus, it's super easy to use – just spray water on stains, press a button to empty the dust canister, and voila. Perfect for busy professionals, business owners or entrepreneurs who need a hassle-free cleaning solution.

Vision Pro, from £3,499 | Apple

I can’t say I have ever wanted to strap monitors to my face but, somehow, Apple has managed to make the thought of face-wearable tech more appealing with the Vision Pro. Good tech should make your life easier and not get in the way, and Apple has got it just right with this. It’s a spatial computer that blends digital content and apps into your physical space. It lets you navigate using your eyes, hands and voice, so you can experience something as simple as a FaceTime call through a different reality. This is going to be huge when it lands in the UK later in the year.

Osmo Pocket 3, £489 | DJI

As the name suggests, DJI’s latest device fits in one pocket and takes super-smooth, stabilised, great-looking videos thanks to the combination of a 1” sensor and a built-in gimbal. Despite the compact design, they’ve packed in a 2” screen that can rotate. It also has face-detection tracking, so the camera will always follow where your face goes, and a built-in wireless mic system. It’s the perfect device for vloggers or anyone wanting to level up their home videos. There’s even a skin-softening effect if 4K is too much for you.

A9 III Digital Camera Body, £6,099 | Sony

If you want to invest in a killer camera, this should be it. The A9 III looks like any other mirrorless Sony but it has some ground-breaking technology. Although 24 megapixels doesn’t sound like much, it has a global shutter sensor, which means it records every single pixel at the same time, thus eliminating the rolling shutter effect you’d get with conventional CMOS sensors. Plus, it has a phenomenal burst rate of 120FPS and Sony’s super-reliable autofocusing system, which makes it a great tool for photographing fast-moving subjects.

Motocompacto, £995 | Honda

And now for something really fun. Like its fossil fuel-burning spiritual predecessor (the Motocampo) this is a two-wheeled vehicle with a seat that neatly folds away into a portable square – the difference being that this one drinks battery juice instead of fuel. It doesn’t look particularly comfortable, and nobody will look cool riding it, but that is precisely what makes it very cool. Worth noting that it only goes up to 15mph, so this is one to enjoy in your garden or local park.

Galaxy S24, £1,249 | Samsung

The Apple vs Samsung rivalry gets more intense each year. I was seriously impressed when I first saw the new Galaxy S24 Ultra which elevates every part of the smartphone experience. The phone boasts serious speed and great battery life, as well as in-built AI tech which makes life even easier – think language translation and tools that can rewrite your messages in various styles. It also has a top-notch camera that captures images in exceptional quality with a 10x optical zoom, as well as a QHD+ display, so everything from gaming to watching TV shows look amazing. Add on a nifty Bluetooth S Pen and you’ve easily got one of the most impressive phones of the year.

Zenbook 14 Laptop, £1,099.99 | Asus

If you’re after a great everyday laptop, the Asus Zenbook 14 would be my top choice right now. It’s sleek, portable and has a powerful processor for such a thin device. With an impressive amount of storage in the drive, 512GB, there’s plenty to store documents, edit photos and use sophisticated processing apps. Streaming, rendering and video editing couldn’t be easier – or more enjoyable – thanks to its 14-core and 18-thread design.

The Frame TV, £999 | Samsung

If you don’t like having your TV mounted on the wall, the clever Frame TV is designed to look like a picture frame. Available in various sizes – from 32 inch to 85 inch – it has a slim profile, so it really looks like a piece of art on the wall. Once you turn it on, you’ll immediately notice the sharp, clear screen with its 4K UHD resolution. Colours are realistic and incredibly detailed, and the screen has a glare-free matte display so you can position it anywhere in your home. Plus, Samsung's smart platform gives you access to a huge collection of 4K content, from steaming apps to Xbox games.
