The New-Gen Olive Oils To Try This Season

There’s an EVOO-lution going on. Last year, US brand Graza broke out with its eye-catching squeezy bottles of olive oil, sparking a new condiment obsession. This summer, you can’t move far in London without encountering a chef drizzling quality extra virgin over soft-serve ice-cream (we’re not complaining). Here are 13 new-generation oils that are good enough to sip – and gorgeous enough to deserve prime real estate on your kitchen counter.

Drizzle Extra Virgin Olive Oil, £29.43 | Graza

We’ve been known to save space in our checked baggage for Graza’s Drizzle and Sizzle bottles of extra virgin olive oil. So we’re glad to report you can now buy them on Amazon. A three-strong collection of Spanish single-origin oils, Graza comes in handy squeezy bottles, taking the drip factor out of the equation while delivering authentic flavour from 100% Picual olives. ‘Sizzle’ is a mellow extra virgin cooking oil made from mature, mid-season olives – perfect for everyday frying and roasting. ‘Drizzle’ is a finishing oil, pressed from early harvest olives bursting with bold flavour and antioxidants, ideal for salads, dips and dressings. And for high-heat cooking, newcomer ‘Frizzle’ combines naturally refined olive pomace oil with extra virgin olive oil, offering a neutral taste and a high smoke point for baking, grilling and frying.

Intense Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Limited Edition 'King' Terracotta, £48 | Frantoio Muraglia

Frantoio Muraglia – a fifth-generation Italian producer based in Puglia – has teamed up with local artist Pierpaolo Gaballo on a limited-edition bottle of its signature, intensely fruity EVOO. Made using cold-pressed Coratina olives (a native variety with triple the antioxidants of other Italian olives), this bold oil delivers serious flavour: expect grassy, spicy notes with a hint of astringency, plus undertones of dill, pepper and fennel. Ideal for drizzling over raw vegetables, salads or burrata, the oil comes in a striking handmade ceramic bottle, decorated with Gaballo’s geometric motifs. Behind the good looks, Muraglia’s olive oil pedigree is impressive. The company has been cultivating the same groves for over 100 years, and its 450-year-old Coratina tree still bears fruit. Unsurprisingly, its oils regularly pick up international awards.

Unfiltered Extra Virgin Olive Oil, £25 | Popoli

The result? A punchy, peppery oil that’s still smooth enough to drizzle on just about anything. It’s a true expression of the Abruzzo motto, ‘forte e gentile’ – strong and gentle. Sicilian Olive Oil, £35 | Citizens of Soil X Hal Haines

Produced by Francesca in the town of Syracuse, this small-batch, limited-edition bottle by olive oil subscription company Citizens of Soil was designed in collaboration with artist Hal Haines and inspired by colourful guesthouse Casa Lawa in Sicily, where Hal's an artist in residence this summer.
