The Tools

Katto

UK kitchenware company Katto understands that people want to own fewer, better things. That’s why its products are handmade and designed to have minimal impact on the environment. After mastering handmade Japanese steel knives last year – we can vouch for the quality – Katto is now taking on the rest of your kitchen cabinet. Its new BBQ tools are forged, hammered and finished by hand in the UK. Each set includes tongs, a fork and a turner – aka everything you need for cooking over fire. The octagonal chef’s press is produced the same way. Weighty and robust, it’s ideal for ensuring an even crispness.

The Beer

Deya X Adnams Boat Trip

Real ale meets craft beer in Boat Trip. This golden summer pale is the fruit of a collaboration between Adnams of Suffolk and Cheltenham-based Deya Brewing Company. Coming in at 4% ABV, it’s made from English Mystic hops for a citrus, stone and berried fruit profile. Boat Trip is also a homage to Adnams co-founder George, who once had a chance encounter with a crocodile while living in South Africa. The team suggests enjoying it with the likes of Persian-style lamb flatbreads, spiced aubergine brioche burgers or pickled cucumber.

The Restaurant

Chez Rowley

Rowley Leigh, the chef and author behind 90s and 00s hotspots Le Café Anglais and Kensington Place, is returning to west London with a residency at Notting Hill’s Laylow. In September, Rowley will open the doors to Chez Rowley, a bistro with nostalgic dishes and classic techniques at its heart. Taking inspiration from family holidays across Europe, Rowley has created a menu that is Italian leaning and will showcase ingredients in a simple and considered form. Expect the likes of seasonal tomatoes and stracciatella; raw bavette, cep toast and gribiche dressing; escalivada with girolles; cuttlefish and clams on toast; seared mackerel with bread sauce and pickled gooseberries and a showstopper of poulet antiboise – a whole chicken roasted with anchovies, black olives, garlic, onion, thyme and white wine, served with hispi cabbage and pangrattato.

The No-Lo Launch

Loah

Loah wants to take alcohol-free beer in a new direction by concentrating on fruit flavours. Always aiming specifically for a 0.5% ABV, rather than stripping anything out, LOAH keeps all the flavour it can in the beer – from the yeast to the hops and fruit. The result is well balanced beers, packed full of hop and fruit flavours, that are low calorie, low in sugar, vegan and gluten free. Our pick? The blood orange flavour.

The Collab

KFC X Dead Man’s Fingers

KFC and rum brand Dead Man’s Fingers have joined forces to create the fast food specialist’s first ever spirit. 11 Herbed & Spiced Rum pairs notes of Dead Man’s Fingers' Cornish flavours with KFC’s signature secret herb and spice blend. It also features notes of caramel, vanilla, treacle toffee and nutmeg. The pair recommend serving it with a splash of cola or in a cocktail.

To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, Swedish design brand Aarke has unveiled a special edition of its very first product. The App

Pub Club

Meeting mates in a new part of town? Or starting to think about a cracking Sunday roast as autumn looms? Pub Club is a pub directory on your phone. Use the app to find somewhere to play pool, listen to live music or drink in a rooftop garden or by an open fire. A Map View function helps you to discover and explore its listed pubs. Head to the Chalkboard to see which pubs are showing the football, running a quiz or hosting a comedy night.

The Pizza Oven

Witt Etna Fermo

There’s a new pizza oven brand in town. Award-winning Danish company Witt launched in the UK earlier this year – and with its stylish looks (we like the orange design) and ultra-fast heating technology, its Etna Fermo Pizza Oven has been impressing home cooks over the summer. As well as the oven, we like the look of its Pizza Dual Kitchen Scales, designed to help you achieve absolute precision at home. They promise to revolutionise the way you measure your dough, ingredients and toppings, ensuring consistent results every time.

The Knives

HexClad

With Gordon Ramsay as a partner, HexClad is one of the fastest-growing cookware brands out there. If the second series of The Bear has left you considering some new kitchen equipment of your own, you should know that HexClad has just launched a premium knife range made from Japanese Damascus steel. There’s a Six Piece Essential Set (£359.99) and a Four Piece Steak Knife Set (£179.99). Comfortably weighted and pleasing on the eye, the blades display the classic Damascus waves created by welding 67 layers of Japanese steel together to ensure durability, while the handles are made from rare forest green Pakkawood.

The Healthy Swap

Lo Bros Kombucha Cola

We rate Lo Bros Kombucha – and its newest launch is a fun one. Its canned cola kombucha is made with an old-school recipe infused with botanical spices and citrus extracts. It’s naturally low in sugar and full of that classic cola flavour. The kombucha is low brewed and all natural, made using high-quality tea, scoby and sugar to create plenty of live culture fermentation. Consider it the perfect substitute when those DC cravings kick in.
