3 Small Brands To Know About

We love Massimo Dutti and Moncler as much as the next person, but sometimes it’s nice to shop somewhere a bit different. Here, we share three brands that you may well not have heard of but we think are worth knowing…

Who They Are: Knitwear brand Colhay’s is well worth knowing for a serious winter treat. Described as ‘the industry’s best kept secret’, its beautifully crafted sweaters and cardigans are made by the finest Scottish heritage factories, meaning they’re built to last. The Colhay’s team clearly includes some serious knitwear-heads: its site has a glossary of all necessary (and unnecessary) terms like hand-linking, sleevehead, fully fashioned and lots of other words you’ve never heard before. In short, they really know what they’re doing when it comes to knits.

The Product: The AW21 collection features something for everyone. There’s superfine lambswool, indulgent cashmere, extrafine merino and more. From chunky cardigans to short-sleeved henleys, prices start at a reasonable £165.

Who They Are: Neem is a young British brand putting sustainability at its core. Its capsule, off-duty essentials are created using recycled cotton, which can be used again once you’re finished with the garment. That means, on top of creating stylish, wearable separates, it’s managed to create a net zero business model – and at an affordable price point.

The Product: Consider Neem a complete capsule wardrobe. There are classic button-downs, merino tees, flannel overshirts and long sleeved polos – essentially classic, fuss-free essentials that are good for the environment too.

Who They Are: Okay, this one is a bit of a cheat. Oslo-based Cavour brings together the coolest Scandi names (and some more familiar ones too) to create a slick edit of hardworking essentials all under one roof. There’s a heavy dose of classic accessories, from winter hats and scarves to footwear from names like Crockett & Jones and Common Projects.

The Product: Cavour also has an in-house label with an emphasis on tailoring – check out the variety of blazers, from quirky checked styles to plush velvets. Plus, there are cable knit cardis, cashmere V necks and a whole load of unfussy, grown-up essentials.
