December’s Hot List

December’s Hot List

/

The SLMan Hot List gives you all the inspiration, recommendations and ideas you need this month. From a luxury label’s new capsule collection to the games console everyone’s after, here are the coolest things to check out in December…

LAUNCH: Celine Homme

Celine rarely sells its designer wares via multi-brand platforms, but an exclusive pop-up at Mr Porter includes some of the coolest new pieces from the Celine Homme collection. The latest drop is certainly a far cry from the Celine days of yore – longtime fans won’t recognise preppy caps, varsity jackets and slogan tees that make up this more wearable, comfortable edit.

RESTAURANT: Crudo

Brick Lane adds a new eatery to its ranks this month. Crudo is a restaurant-cum-fishmonger promising fresh fish and great cocktails in a stylish, relaxed setting. Load up on shellfish, tempura and special Sea Buns, then head through the speakeasy side door to continue the night – tier permitting, of course.

TECH: PS5 Restock

If, like most, you missed out on the new PlayStation last month, don’t worry – restocks are pegged for this month, so you can be gaming by Christmas. No specific dates have been announced yet – keep your eyes glued to AO.com, Game.co.uk and, of course, Amazon.

GROOMING: Salt Grooming

The latest brand to do one thing really well is Salt Grooming. Half wax, half clay, its clever new hair styling product was two years in the making. Promising all-day hold that still looks natural, it’s worth a shot.

OPENING: Electric Gallery

There’s a new destination for affordable art. Electric Gallery, opening in E18 this month, is the brainchild of collector Jai Francois, who curates a collection of contemporary pieces that run from £100 and £5,000. If you’re after something a little different that won’t break the bank, he’s a name to know.

FITNESS: Raise LDN

Raise LDN is a new initiative from two ex-Equinox trainers. If you can guarantee a group of ten or more, they’ll come to your street to host a workout that combines martial arts with strength, resistance and cardio training.

FILM: Mank

Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins and Charles Dance star in the long-awaited Mank, originally written in the 90s. Director David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club, Mindhunter) tells the life story of script writer Herman J Mankiewicz, who penned Citizen Kane. Expect all the glamour and drama of 30s Hollywood, along with a healthy dose of wit and scepticism we all need right now.

DRINK: Van Hunks Sparkling Mead

Mead - aka fermented honey - may not be high priority on your drinks trolley, but it will be once you've tried Van Hunks' sparkling version. Crafted using similar methods to those used to make Champagne, the South African tipple is the surprisingly low in sugar, and is created in small batches to ensure the highest standard. Looking for something a little different for Christmas morning? It may just be this.
