Barbour Is All In On Tartan This Season
The Heritage
A tartan sett is the official pattern of a Scottish clan. The Barbour name can be traced back to 13th-century Ayrshire, and this lineage provided the inspiration for the brand to create its own sett. That sett is now the base for all of Barbour’s tartan colourways.
Drawing on the tones and landscapes of the British countryside, these original tartans are not just Barbour’s signatures. Over the generations, they have become signifiers of the brand’s history and authenticity.
The Campaign
For 2026, Barbour is introducing three new tartans that are more than just patterns. Highland Loch, Oban Mist and Dress Navy are embodiments of the kinship that is central to this family-run brand’s identity.
This spring, they make their debut in a campaign that was shot in the glens and mountains of Scotland to reflect the brand’s deep roots in that sublime countryside.
Look 1
White and cream denim jeans are emerging as a menswear staple this season. A denim jacket like this oversized Bedale is a failsafe way to pull them off. Finish with moccasins and splashes of a tartan shirt and socks to create a spirited spring outfit.
Look 2
Brown boat shoes and chinos is a trusted preppy combination. Modernise it with Barbour’s sharp Spey jacket, denim bucket hat, tartan tote bag and translucent sunnies.
