Greg & Andrew On Their 3 Must-Have Autumn/Winter Essentials
ANDREW
“I invested heavily in last year’s Uniqlo x Jil Sander collaboration, and this puffer coat is one of my all-time favourite pieces. A great mix of style, quality and functionality, it keeps me warm and dry in extreme weather – and the hood is a bonus, too. For a twist, the red lining looks seriously good against the dark grey of the coat. I’ve teamed it with some tailored trousers and a tee, both of which have a relaxed loose fit for that effortless vibe. These Nike trainers are very much inspired by the 1974 originals. This chocolate brown suede, the big yellow swoosh and contrast of the dark trousers is a strong combination.”

“The star of this look is undoubtedly the coat, which is a wool and cashmere blend. It can be thrown over any outfit for a layer of warmth and added sophistication. I love its unstructured, oversized shape. It adds a little modernity to a classic piece. This outfit has the ultimate sport-luxe vibe, with a bit of a New York twist. I was inspired by a mix of Rocky (the training montage scene) and Robert Pattinson’s wardrobe from The Batman. To style it, I wanted to go for a monochrome palette and paired it with a simple black tee and a grey John Lewis cashmere hoodie and joggers – timeless and comfortable. To break things up, I’ve added these autumnal green Nike Dunk Low trainers. This colour is my go-to this season. To complete the look, throw on a cap and go.”

“This look has something ‘Sergeant Pepper-esque’ about it with its 70s silhouettes. It’s a nice way to embrace something different, individual, and slightly more playful without going as far as Gucci-Harry Styles vibes. This particular suit is one I stumbled across at a boutique in New York called OTD (On This Day) which is a new brand from John Varvatos. You can really see the rock influence that heavily categorises John Varvatos’ eponymous label in these pieces. I love that it feels like a classic, but still has some unique details, from the stripe at the back to the finishings too. Pair it with a Chelsea boot to keep things smart.”

“When styling a suit, I often opt for a tee or polo shirt. I wouldn't usually go for this colour combination – navy with beige – but after playing around with it, I love the contrast. It’s ideal if you’re after a workwear option that can double up as a cool twist on leisure wear, too. The J+ suits are great, and I especially love that they’re cut slightly slimmer than regular Uniqlo. I’m also slightly obsessed with Salomon shoes and have a few pairs that I wear on repeat; with a suit, they add a bit of streetwear edge while still feeling subtle enough.”

“When it comes to knitwear, Arket’s knit polos are the best value, style and fit, which makes them a constant staple in my wardrobe. I’ve teamed them with these excellently tailored trousers which I bought in the early 2000s from the Original Penguin flagship store on Melrose Drive in LA. They’re a great example of a timeless piece that can be worn for years. A white tee underneath adds a softer edge to the look along with a cool pair of trainers.”

“A chunky turtleneck is a must this season and every autumn/winter for that matter. It’s truly a wardrobe staple, but the key is sizing. You don’t want excess material to bunch up around your stomach, but you also want to have enough room in the neck so you don’t feel like you’re being suffocated. I love that it's warm and comfortable and just as practical as it is stylish. Another tip is to always check the material. Wool can often be itchy, so make sure you wear a t-shirt underneath. I’ve paired mine with wide-leg black cords for a simple yet smart look. An elasticated waistband makes them seriously comfortable – perfect for when you overindulge.”
