How To Nail Linen Tailoring This Season

Linen tailoring is essential for a man in summer. Hawes & Curtis has known that for more than a century, and now channels all of that experience into its premium 1913 label. Whether you’re dressing for a wedding, a day at Wimbledon or simply looking to add a more debonair edge to your first spritz of the season, the brand has it covered. To prove the point, Harvey took the latest pieces for a spin, showing just how versatile linen tailoring can be.

Created in partnership with Hawes & Curtis

Look 1

This outfit is all about keeping things simple. Monochrome outfits have had a resurgence in recent seasons, and it’s a comeback we welcome. Here, the light reflective beige tone will keep temperatures down in baking heat, as will the no-sock approach to the loafer. The single-breasted jacket, the buttonless knitted polo and the minimalist loafer design all help to keep things uncomplicated. Take off the jacket and the outfit still looks intentional and stylish.

Look 2

Linen is a relaxed and breathable fabric, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be razor sharp too. In this outfit, the brown tone with soft pinstriping and double-breasted construction makes a subtle statement – ideal for a smart wedding outfit – while the white linen shirt will keep everything breathable. The floral silk jacquard tie in cappuccino tone, combined with the sleek double monk-strap shoes, brings artistry and detail into the mix.

Look 3

And finally, the third outfit (like a third child) brings zest to the party. Officially a light sand tone, it has an almost butter-yellow look in the flesh, and is a point of departure from usual tailoring tones. We have played into the preppy sense of colour by adding a navy medallion silk tie, plus a striped bengal shirt, proving once again that yellow and blue are a knock-out summer combo. In keeping with the relaxed sense of fun, the brown penny loafers offer trendiness, panache and comfort.
