Menswear is a booming business. In 2023, the unprecedented level of interest has created new stars, and some looks to remember. Here are ten sartorial heroes who have helped to move men’s style along this year – and look set to do big things in 2024…

Joe Jonas

The Jonas Brothers’ world tour has been a great chance for the band to showcase a new look. Joe, in particular, has made a mark on social media. Often compared to Freddie Mercury, he experiments with a range of unconventionally masculine pieces – think cropped blazers, slim leather trousers and waistcoat co-ord sets, all styled down with the latest trainer launches or loafers. The overall cohesiveness of the looks means there’s a new signature ‘Joe’ we can all recognise.

Paapa Essiedu

London-born Paapa is a busy man. He’s already lined up for the lead role in The Effect at the National Theatre next year. In 2023, he starred in the latest Black Mirror, returned for the second season of The Lazarus Project, and appeared in Richard Curtis’s newest Christmas film, Genie. In interviews he’s mentioned never wanting to take style too seriously, but wanting to look interesting in an effortless way. It’s one of the reasons we rate him so highly – he never goes for the obvious look. You’ll rarely catch him in a simple black tux, for example. Instead, some of his standout ensembles have included a burnt orange Valentino suit at the Baftas and a custom Gucci silk double-breasted number at the Emmys.

Austin Butler

The Elvis actor embodied his character in more ways than one, with an uncanny adoption of some of the icon’s signature style cues – from the cut of his suits to a general retro, slightly grungy look. Butler has also delivered some impressive red-carpet looks this year. Ahead of his newly announced role in Dune 2, he’s someone we’re excited to see experiment with their style more in 2024.

Jacob Elordi

His character on Euphoria wore a capsule wardrobe of denim and tees, but Jacob’s red carpet looks have been far sleeker and more polished as his style has matured over the past year. While he’s typically pared back and classic in fit, he’s not afraid to dabble in colourful suits. A standout look was his retro-inspired Bottega ensemble at the Priscilla premiere – a grey suit with an exaggerated pale yellow polo collar poking through. Another recent favourite was his look for the Saltburn premiere, kitted out in Burberry. Away from the red carpet, he’s often papped in cool denim and an overcoat, nailing that off-duty but put-together vibe.

Valentino

Andrew Garfield

Andrew has always been stylish, but it's not until this year we’ve really seen him have fun with his style. The key look that caught our attention was at Valentino’s SS24 show. Wearing pieces straight off the runway, he was in beige tailored trousers, a rust brown shirt and a striking pink overcoat. While this fashion-forward combo was more than likely the work of his talented stylist Warren Alfie Baker and the Valentino team, it still got us excited to see what risks he’ll take on red carpets in 2024.

Riz Ahmed

Riz exudes an effortlessly cool style that reflects his sartorial evolution in recent years. On and off the red carpet, Ahmed balances high-end designers with a carefree attitude that gives him a unique style. A regular on the front row at menswear fashion weeks, he consistently dons classic yet pared-back looks. His standout moment this year was his Prada suit at the Oscars that epitomised his modern aesthetic.

A$AP Rocky

It's a challenge to compile any list of stylish men without including A$AP Rocky. His style credentials are unrivalled, making him undoubtedly the best dressed man in hip-hop, if not the entire music industry. Unapologetically audacious, he is a risk-taker and takes on trends creatively. Clad in the likes of Gucci and Bottega Veneta, Rocky emerges not just as a fashion icon but as a style maverick and a true chameleon. His style is ever evolving and a testament to his ability to transcend fashion norms.

Valentino

Penn Badgley

Penn Badgley has crept up the style stakes and we really started to take notice this year. We weren’t the only ones: during the SS24 shows, he was always front row. He showed his experimental style at Valentino in a tailored overcoat and suit skirt. As the curtains draw to a close on this year, we foresee him evolving into a bona fide style icon for 2024.

Will Sharpe

Will Sharpe exudes an easy charm that seems almost accidental, and it's precisely this nonchalant quality that convinced us to include him here. Since his notable turn in the second season of The White Lotus, he’s embarked on a journey into men's style, exploring fashion-forward looks with a refreshing audacity. He made a striking debut with a coveted front-row seat at Armani, signalling his swift entry into the fashion week circuit. Since then, he has shown that rare ability to infuse coolness into anything he wears, making even the simplest of looks appear effortlessly stylish.

Law Roach

Having stepped back from full-time celebrity styling, self-proclaimed 'image architect' Law Roach has seamlessly transitioned into a style icon in his own right. He has a distinctive approach and this year’s key looks ranged from metallic suits to ethereal full-length floral gowns. Roach exudes confidence and an innate sense of style that he unapologetically owns. We expect his influential presence will only grow in 2024.
