FILM: American Utopia

In 1984, Talking Heads frontman David Byrne starred in one of the great concert films: Stop Making Sense by Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme. In 2020, he has repeated the feat. This time around, Spike Lee was behind the camera for a performance of Byrne’s Broadway smash American Utopia. Lee’s film captures both the exuberant and political aspects of a spectacular, ground-breaking show that includes some of Byrne’s old band’s biggest hits. There are screenings at arthouse cinemas across the capital as part of this month’s London Film Festival – check out the latest trailer here.

WATCH: Todd Snyder X Timex Art Deco Milano

Watchmaker Timex and New York menswear hero Todd Snyder have been working together to outstanding effect recently. The pair’s latest joint release is the Art Deco Milano, an affordable quartz-movement timepiece for modern dress-down days. It might have a contemporary purpose but, as the name suggests, it is based on a vintage design. Retro details that give it a classic feel include a Red Wing leather strap and glow-in-the-dark hands and hour markers.
