A Day At The Cricket With SLMan & Rado

In partnership with Rado, SLMan invited some of London’s finest to watch the first day of the fifth Test match between England and India at The Oval. The British weather was playing a game of its own, but the good company shone throughout. Here’s how the day played out…

Any day organised by Rado starts punctually – right at 10:30am, The Oval’s staff served a champagne breakfast

Of course a day organised by Rado starts punctually. Right at 10:30, The Oval’s excellent staff served a champagne breakfast. Soon enough, attention turned to the action outside – our fine view of a promising England bowling performance only paused by some pesky rain clouds.

The weather put paid to a planned pitch walk, and forced the players to take their lunch early. For us, that meant the consolation of a three-course meal and – as the rain continued – a wider window in which it could be enjoyed.

Flowing drinks and good conversation punctuated by the occasional fall of a wicket – that’s what a day at the cricket is all about.

Finally, after tea was taken early too, the clouds parted, the players’ shadows danced across The Oval’s pristine outfield, and everything began to make sense. Flowing drinks and happy chatter punctuated occasionally by the fall of a wicket – that’s what a day at the cricket is all about.
