10 Guys Reveal The TV Shows They Binge

2025’s been a stellar year for TV – but alongside the new hits, some old favourites are still worth a binge. We asked some guys in the know about the series they’ve loved. From dark comedies to high-stakes thrillers, here’s what they gave us…

Leonard and Hungry Paul, BBC

“Based on a superb book by Rónán Hession, this sweet and gentle series is a real antidote to the cynical, never-ending churn of reality television, which I usually assault myself with. Structured in easily digestible half-hour episodes, the plot follows two friends (the titular Leonard and Paul) as they try to navigate life after Leonard's mother dies. It's all about grief and love and friendship. Plus, all the performances are nuanced and fantastic. You could easily get through the entire series in an afternoon. And you should definitely do it with a cup of tea and a plate of biscuits within reach.” – Lucas Oakeley, author & content creator

Class Act, Netflix

“If you don’t mind subtitles – or happen to be fluent in French – Class Act is an easy and entertaining watch on Netflix. Based on the real life of entrepreneur, entertainer and politician Bernard Tapie, it’s light enough to watch with dinner in the evening, yet entertaining enough to keep you coming back. With storylines that span boardroom battles and romantic dramas, it’s a solid series.”Frankie Foster, broadcaster & SLMan contributor

Australian Survivor, U

“Australian Survivor is hands down one of the best competition shows out there, and not enough people are talking about it. It’s an addictive mix of brutal physical challenges, cutthroat alliances, and brilliant social strategy. It's such a fascinating concept and has truly withstood the test of time. The challenges, gameplayers and twists get more and more intense each season.” – Jeff Thurm, head of entertainment at BuzzFeed UK

Industry, BBC

“If you’ve ever worked in London and questioned your life choices after a 12-hour day, this show hits different. Set in the cutthroat world of high finance, Industry follows a group of young grads trying to survive at a ruthless investment bank. It’s chaos, ambition and burnout – all wrapped up in sharp writing, big egos and a soundtrack that slaps. Think Succession meets Skins.” – Tunde Ogunsina, SLMan contributor

Loot, Apple TV

Loot, Apple TV

Loot is hilarious – one of those shows that’s just easy to binge. Maya Rudolph plays a billionaire trying to rebuild her life (and reputation) after a messy divorce, and the result is part workplace comedy, part redemption arc. It’s genuinely feelgood without being cheesy.” – Nathan Ritchie, podcaster & chef

Long Way Home, Prime Video

"Every guy should watch this series with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. It’s not just a travel show – it’s about adventure, friendship and seeing the world in a way that most of us only dream of. Watching them tackle epic journeys, face challenges, and share those incredible moments of camaraderie is genuinely inspiring. It reminds you that life’s greatest experiences often come from stepping out of your comfort zone and exploring with the people you care about. It’s inspired me to plan a motorbike trip for my dad’s 70th." – Lee Thompson, co-founder of Flash Pack

Designated Survivor, Netflix

Designated Survivor, Netflix

“It’s not reinventing TV, but Designated Survivor is comforting, fast paced and weirdly soothing – a political thriller where you don’t need to Google what’s going on. Kiefer Sutherland plays a low-level cabinet member suddenly thrust into the presidency after a catastrophic attack – cue conspiracies, moral dilemmas and plenty of White House drama. It’s how I’ve learnt most of my US political knowledge… and I stand by it.” – Tunde

Ripley, Netflix

“Andrew Scott is mesmerising in Ripley – a sinister grifter with charm, menace and zero moral compass. This psychological thriller reimagines Patricia Highsmith’s classic in stunning black and white, with 1960s Italy as the backdrop. Every frame feels like a painting, every scene laced with dread. Scott’s performance is breathtaking: cold, calculated and magnetic.” – Nick Vadasz, chef

The Expanse, Prime Video

“I’m a big sci-fi fan, and my favourite show by far is The Expanse. Based on the incredible books by James S. A. Corey, it ran from 2015 to 2022 and delivers proper hard sci-fi. The story follows James Holden and his crew as they unravel a deep conspiracy while navigating political tensions between Earth, Mars and ‘The Belt’. There are six seasons, so plenty to binge.” – Liam Hirt, founder of Circumstance Distillery

Slow Horses, Apple TV

“I’m binge-watching Slow Horses and it’s a belter. Gary Oldman is hilarious – his comic timing and delivery as the slovenly, sharp-tongued Jackson Lamb is spot on. The show follows a team of MI5 rejects banished to Slough House, where they’re stuck doing grunt work until real danger lands on their doorstep. It’s layered, tense and funny – a proper mix of espionage, dark humour and British grit.” – Billy Barratt, Emmy award-winning actor & model

Shōgun

“The craftsmanship of Shōgun is extraordinary – every detail feels considered, every moment charged with subtlety. Having worked with several of the cast before, I expected that familiarity might dilute the impact. Instead, I was completely immersed in 1600s feudal Japan. The performances, the scale, the atmosphere – it’s a masterclass in long‑form storytelling and proof of what television at its peak can deliver.” – Andrew Levitas, filmmaker & co-founder of Cygnet Gin

Gen V, Prime Video

“Gen V is dark, totally over the top and packed with those ‘WTF just happened’ moments. Set in the same twisted universe as The Boys, it follows a group of superpowered students at a shady superhero college where things go from weird to unhinged. It’s comical in the strangest ways. Not one for the faint-hearted, but absolutely bingeable if you’re into the madness.” – Nathan
