TV To Look Forward To This Year
Industry – Season 4
Industry’s fourth season began on Monday, raising the stakes once again inside London’s ruthless financial institutions. With Pierpoint still reeling from past power shifts, the latest episodes find old loyalties tested and new alliances forged – often at steep personal cost. Yasmin is navigating life, love and status alongside tech founder Sir Henry Muck, while Harper finds herself pulled into the orbit of the enigmatic and formidable Whitney Halberstram. As both women chase influence in an environment that rewards ambition and punishes vulnerability, their already fractured friendship begins to buckle. Myha’la and Marisa Abela return at the centre of the drama, joined once again by Kit Harington, Ken Leung and Sagar Radia. The cast is bolstered by new additions including Kiernan Shipka, Charlie Heaton, Toheeb Jimoh and Max Minghella.

The Pitt
The Pitt season two started in the US last week, and we still haven’t got access to the Emmy-winning season one over here. Thankfully that should change later this year, probably when HBO Max launches as a standalone streaming service in March. Set in an emergency room, The Pitt is a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America, as seen through the eyes of some frontline heroes. Each episode follows an hour of Dr Robby’s (Noah Wyle) 15-hour shift as the chief attendant in Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s emergency room.

Army of Shadows
Army of Shadows has been written by Bafta-winning Ronan Bennett (The Day of the Jackal, MobLand, Top Boy). Inspired by Jean-Pierre Melville’s 1969 film and Joseph Kessel’s seminal book of the same name, the series dramatises the emergence of the French Resistance to the Nazi occupation of France during WWII. From those earlier works, Bennett has created a bold new story that tells of a resistance that takes shape in a near-future authoritarian Britain. Under de facto American occupation, a former British army officer builds a covert resistance cell from scratch as young recruits fight to reclaim their country and their futures. Across six episodes, the series will chronicle the early days of this British Resistance. From first kills and internal betrayals to propaganda campaigns, internment camps and a climactic political assassination, it’s a story about how freedom is taken and how it can be won back.

Dear England
James Graham is a powerhouse of British theatre. One of his most career-defining works is Dear England, the play that follows Gareth Southgate and the England team in the run-up to the 2018 Euros. With the worst penalty record in the world, Southgate knows it’s not just about tactics – it’s about confronting years of hurt and finding a new way forward. Now the award-winning production has been turned into a BBC drama, which will land on screens later this year. Joseph Fiennes will reprise his role of Southgate, with appearances from Jodie Whittaker, Greg Davis and Jason Watkins.
