Start The Weekend Right

It’s Bagels Primrose Hill

Craving an NYC-style bagel? For our money, It’s Bagels makes some of the best in London – and it’s just opened a shop and bakery in Primrose Hill. The brainchild of fashion photographer Dan Martensen, the bakery serves freshly baked plain bagels alongside flavours like poppy, sesame, garlic, onion, and cinnamon and raisin. Customers can also tuck into bagels filled with classic combos, like smoked salmon with cream cheese and capers; or choose something a bit different like the ‘BECSPK’ with bacon, egg, cheese, salt, pepper and ketchup; or an all-American peanut butter and jelly bagel. Finish your order with coffee or fresh juice.

Vanya at Duke of York's Theatre

Sherlock and Fleabag star Andrew Scott returns to the West End stage for a five-week run of Anton Chekhov’s 1898 classic. The one-man production is a modern take on Uncle Vanya, with Scott playing all seven characters. Vanya explores the comedic and tragic human experience, from hopes and dreams to mistakes and regrets, highlighting the bond between actor and audience. Tickets start from £30.

Forza Wine at the National Theatre

South London rooftop venue Forza Wine has opened a second site at the National Theatre. The 160-cover indoor and outdoor space is on the north-west terrace of the famous brutalist building. Choose from a menu of natural wines and seasonal cocktails, alongside a ‘sort of Italian’ snack menu with dishes like cauliflower fritti with aioli, pancetta potato cakes with pickled cabbage, and its signature soft serve. We recommend the frozen peach margarita for a refreshing sundowner.

The Parakeet

You might have spotted The Parakeet on social media thanks to its slick interiors and impressive reviews. Now, the pub headed up by Ben Allen and Ed Jennings (both ex-Brat) has launched a Sunday roast menu – all cooked over the kitchen’s custom flame grill. Diners can choose from legs of lamb, roast chicken (cooked over hay for extra smokiness), salt-aged topside beef and celeriac wellington, each served with roast potatoes with herbs and garlic, seasonal greens and root veg, Yorkshire puddings and carrot and swede purée. Add on a bottle of burgundy and finish the meal with sticky toffee pudding or a cheeseboard.
