Soak Up The Sun

Café Mission’s Rooftop Oasis

Tucked away above Fashion Street in Shoreditch, Café Mission’s rooftop terrace is now open for the season – and it’s looking better than ever. This hidden spot blends warehouse cool with bohemian charm. Count on parasol-covered seating by day and a relaxed buzz come sunset. Chef Chris Golding – formerly of Sachi and Dinings – is behind the menu, which includes standout brunch plates like shakshuka with smoked chilli, and poached eggs with avocado on grilled shokupan. There’s also a concise list of sandos, salads, natural wines and classic cocktails. Ideal for a low-key day in the sun or a laid-back evening above the city.

3rd Floor, 7-9 Fashion Street, Shoreditch, E1 6PX

Enjoy An Easter Feast

The Connaught Grill

The Connaught Grill is doing Easter properly. Helmed by executive head chef Ramiro Lafuente Martinez, the Mayfair restaurant is serving up a milk-fed lamb roast for the long weekend. Expect leg and slow-braised shoulder, both cooked over the Grill’s signature wood-fired flames and served with traditional trimmings. Don’t skip dessert – the chocolate brioche with buckwheat and chicory ice cream is a decadent finish, but the crêpes suzette, flambéed tableside on a silver trolley, is the real showstopper. Start with a martini from the silver tray and raise a toast to a bank holiday done right.

Eat Well For Less

Market Tuesdays At Burger & Lobster

Burger & Lobster’s cult-favourite Market Tuesdays are back – and they’re bigger and better. Every Tuesday from 5pm, all London restaurants will be serving up 1.25lb whole lobsters at the day’s Borough Market rate. That means buttery, grilled lobster for around £26. Perfectly cooked, exceptionally priced and made for pairing with fries and a cocktail, this is one of the best-value seafood nights in town.

Take The Kids

National Maritime Museum

Think pirates are all parrots, peg legs and buried treasure? Think again. The National Maritime Museum’s latest blockbuster exhibition is setting the record straight. Just a short stroll from Deptford’s St Nicholas Church – whose eerie skull-and-crossbones gateposts are rumoured to have inspired the Jolly Roger flag – Pirates delves deep into the myths and realities of life on the high seas. From Captain Pugwash to Jack Sparrow, the show explores how pirates have been depicted in pop culture over the centuries, while revealing the brutal truths of the real men (and women) behind the legends. Expect rare artefacts, immersive displays and a global story that spans past and present – including the piracy threats still facing modern-day sailors.
