Imran Perretta: A Riot In Three Acts
Starting on Friday 27th September, Somerset House Studios resident Imran Perretta presents A Riot in Three Acts, a powerful installation blending sound, sculpture and performance. Drawing on Perretta's experiences during the 2011 London riots, the work examines urban narratives shaped by social inequality and racial violence. Set against an expansive film set and cinematic score, the piece opens with Perretta’s old Blackberry, a symbol of communication during the riots, with burning imagery reflecting the unrest that followed the police shooting of Mark Duggan – an unarmed Black man.
