Best For Relaxed Atmosphere

After a year in the works, The Dally opened its doors in north London recently. Across three floors of a restored period townhouse, it’s got some on-point ‘quiet luxury’ interiors. Founders Caroline Baldwin and Claire Ilardi-Crow are focused on bringing back the idea of neighbourhood social clubs, but with a welcoming, luxe feel. Memberships include access to events – from light lunches to intimate dinners – work spaces, bars, spacious lounges and private dining.

Prices: Membership starts from £630 a year or £66 per month, plus a £250 joining fee.

NYX, Mayfair

Best For A Party

This is a fresh addition to London’s nightlife. Beneath Greek restaurant Gaia in Mayfair, it’s a contemporary speakeasy-style club inspired by ancient mythology. In moody, atmospheric interiors – think lots of marble, individual table lamps, plush booths and mirrored ceilings – DJs keep the party going until 4am every night of the week.

The Roof Gardens, Kensington

Best For Cool Architecture

An 80s and 90s institution under Richard Branson, Kensington Roof Gardens was a sky-high nightclub where everyone from Madonna to Kate Moss would hang out. Once famed for its flock of flamingos, the sixth-floor space has been relaunched as The Roof Gardens following a multimillion-pound refurbishment. As it’s a Grade II-listed site, its Spanish-style buildings have remained alongside its three striking gardens and famous skyline views.

Surrenne, Knightsbridge

Best For Health & Wellness

Wellness and fitness space Surrenne is part of the Emory, the all-suite hotel from the Maybourne group crafted by leading industry designers, including the likes Champalimaud Design, Patricia Urquiola and André Fu'. This members-only facility spans four floors, featuring a 22-metre swimming pool with underwater meditation sound system, a spa café, sauna, steam room and snow shower. The second floor houses a state-of-the-art gym equipped with top brands like Technogym, Woodway, Hydrow and Peloton, with access to elite visiting personal trainers. Adjacent to the gym is a multifunctional studio for yoga and Pilates, accommodating up to six people at a time, against a Japanese garden backdrop. On the corner of Brewer and Warwick Street, this is the most recent opening from Maslow’s, the group behind Fitzrovia’s Mortimer House. The building is an early 20th-century mansion laid out over six floors. It’s been restored with chic and relaxed interiors, vintage furniture and bespoke pieces. Members can dine at Yasmin, the year-round rooftop restaurant and bar whose menus are created by chef Tom Cenci. Then there’s the living room and den for relaxed working lunches and post-work drinks, and Nessa, a bistro and bar on the ground floor. Other facilities include lounges, private and shared workspaces, events spaces and a library with its own bar. Members can use the studio and gym for PT sessions or complimentary fitness classes, including barre, HIIT 45, TRX and Boxfit.

Best For Networking

With some of the most glamorous interiors on this list, Curve Club is the ultimate network for founders. Created by an all-female team – including CEO Rosie Dallas, who had co-founded four successful businesses by 30 – it’s a community for those who want to meet like-minded individuals. There’s currently a club in Shoreditch, with another spot set to open in Soho. In N1, there’s a restaurant and bar, working space and events space. Members can take part in mentoring programmes, access the online community and go to all events, from supper clubs to talks from high-profile CEOs.

Apollo’s Muse, Mayfair

Best For Dining

You’ll find Apollo’s Muse beneath Bacchanalia in Mayfair. In keeping with the restaurant’s opulent design and interiors, the space features one-of-a-kind pieces you’d expect to find in a museum, like 2,000-year-old Greek and Roman artworks, original sculptures and a marble ceiling. Members can choose from an extensive list of cocktails, champagnes and wine, including unique and rare vintages from the world’s best wineries, with a focus on Burgundy, Bordeaux and Barolo. Cocktails include a Bacchanalia martini featuring gin, olive oil and olive leaf essence; and the Meteora with tequila, port, grapefruit, vanilla and champagne. Enjoy these alongside decadent dishes created by Athinagoras Kostakos, like caviar jacket potatoes, ’nduja beef tartare cones, burrata tortellini and a members-only BLT. Shoreditch Arts Club

Shoreditch Arts Club was made for creatives. Designed to look like a cool art collector’s house, it occupies a converted warehouse on Redchurch Street. There’s a restaurant, café and bar, an open living space and various working areas. Members also have access to a 24-seat cinema, complete with comfy sofas and retro lamps. The club has a rotating culture programme of installations, exhibitions and events, while the first floor has projection walls dedicated to moving image art. The restaurant is a destination in itself, with a brunch and all-day menu showcasing local and seasonal produce. Members can also attend events and workshops, like wine pairing dinners, artist Q&As and LGBTQ+ events.

Richard Caring’s members’ club reopened its doors last year after an extensive renovation. On a corner of Mount Street, it now has Mayfair’s largest terrace (open until 1am), as well as two dining rooms, an art-deco bar with mahogany bar stools, and a private dining room with space for 16. Interiors are dark and elegant, with an impressive collection of David Hockneys, including his iconic ‘Afternoon Swimming’ print in the club’s entrance. The kitchen is headed up by chef Marcus Eaves who delivers classic British dishes made with local produce, alongside a long list of organic and biodynamic wines. Be sure to try the George martini made with Absolut Elyx vodka, tonka bean and Bianco bitters.

Estelle Manor, Oxfordshire

A sister property to Maison Estelle in Mayfair, Estelle Manor was created by Sharan Pasricha, the founder of Ennismore, the group behind Gleneagles in Scotland and the Hoxton hotels. This private country club in the small Oxfordshire village of Eynsham spans a Grade II-listed house and over 3,000 acres of beautiful parkland. There are 108 bedrooms and suites across the main house, two nearby buildings and the new Stables and Walled Garden buildings. Guests can also stay in woodland cottages and private houses on the estate – all of which have the grown-up and glamorous interiors you’d expect from Ennismore. Among some of the most impressive facilities on this list, there’s a riviera-inspired outdoor terrace with a 25-metre swimming pool and shaded sun beds, as well as four restaurants including the informal Brasserie for brunch and casual suppers.
