Pyrá
Joining local favourites like Milk Beach, Carmel and Don’t Tell Dad, Pyrá is the latest star in Queen’s Park’s ever-evolving dining scene. At the helm is head chef Mattia Caddeo bringing a bold, fresh spin on Mediterranean cuisine. Inspired by the flavours of Greece and Spain, he blends fire-grilled specialities with tapas-style sharing plates, all served up in a warm, stylish setting. Expect dishes like grilled octopus skewers, veal chop with a rosemary crust, paella arancini, pil pil prawns, stuffed peppers and Basque beef short rib. And for a show-stopping centrepiece? Choose from a whole leg of lamb (pre-order 24 hours ahead), whole sea bass baked in a salt crust or a mighty 1kg Galician ribeye on the bone. Desserts are just as indulgent and made for sharing — think Ferrero Rocher baklava and a rich Basque cheesecake for two.

Calcot & Spa
Hearty food, refined drinks and indulgent wellness are the key pieces at Calcot & Spa. The spa itself has a sauna, an outside fireside hot tub and a steam room. The gym offers excellent equipment and classes from HIIT to yoga. And finally, there’s a modern stretch pod for recovery – a UK hotel first. On the Epicurean side of life, the Brasserie offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with views overlooking the grounds, and you’ll find a cosy fire-warmed café and cocktail lounge in the Hive.

Tasca X Câv
Chef residencies may be popping up all over the capital, but this is a must-know. Câv – the brainchild of Chris Tanner (Dram) and Edwin Frost (Oranj) – opens this weekend, taking over the former Japanese Canteen space. Blending cocktail bar cool with a rotating kitchen residency, it promises a bold, ever-evolving dining experience. First up is Tasca, a nod to Portugal and Spain led by chef Josh Dallaway (of Bruno and Oranj fame) and sommelier Sinead Murdoch. The menu offers playful twists on Iberian classics, including the jambon beurre gilda, pork and prawn cachorrinho (Porto’s classic hotdog) and the indulgent bikini – a Barcelona-inspired brioche sandwich stuffed with tomme de chevre cheese and Iberico ham, drizzled with smoked maple syrup and served with salted goat’s milk ice cream. Half the bottles on the forward-thinking wine list hail from Portugal and Spain. Sinead champions female-founded businesses and winemakers who use sustainable farming methods, with natural and low-intervention wines taking centre stage.

Meet The Boys
The Knave of Clubs
Shoreditch has a new local worth raising a glass in. James Dye (Camberwell Arms) and Benjy Leibowitz (JKS, The NoMad NYC) have brought back to life this Grade II-listed pub on Bethnal Green Road. It’s a proper pub at heart – pints, crisps, pork scratchings – but the food’s a cut above. Think French market flair: rotisserie porchetta, oozy cheese, leek and red onion toasties, and venison sausage rolls.

See A Classic
Dear England
James Graham is a powerhouse of British theatre, and his latest hit, Punch, is making the leap from Nottingham Playhouse to London’s Old Vic. But if you want to catch one of his most career-defining works, Dear England is back at the National for a limited run. For those who didn’t catch it the first time, the play follows Gareth Southgate and the England team in the run-up to the Euros. With the worst penalty record in the world, Southgate knows it’s not just about tactics – it’s about confronting years of hurt and finding a new way forward.
