The Barbary Next Door Guest Boreka Series

Neal’s Yard eatery The Barbary Next Door has just kicked off a set of collabs with hot chefs like Dan Martensen, Sabrina Ghayour, Jacob Kenedy, Matt Brown and Noor Murad. Each one will create their own unique boreka – a savoury filled pastry dish – which will be available to eat in or take out for a month. First up for Feb, Dan from It’s Bagels! has crafted a boreka inspired by his own popular jalapeño and scallion schmears. We’re also pumped for April when Bocca di Lupo’s Jacob has lined up an Italian boreka featuring ricotta, lemon, pecorino and pepper.

Standing At The Sky's Edge

After sell-out runs at the National Theatre and then in Sheffield, where it’s set, Standing At The Sky’s Edge is hitting the West End. It won the Olivier award for Best New Musical but don’t be alarmed by that – if musicals are not usually your bag, this one cuts a bit deeper. Through the lens of three generations living on the Park Hill housing estate, it tells the story of the nation's changing political tapestry, from Thatcherism to Brexit. It opens this weekend, with tickets starting from £20.

Gillian Lynne Theatre, 166 Drury Lane, Covent Garden, WC2B 5PW; until August

Bentley’s Oyster Bar

In a prime spot just off Regent Street, Bentley’s has been serving up everyone’s favourite aphrodisiac since 1916. The great Irish chef Richard Corrigan currently heads up the kitchen and, featuring the finest rocks from both British and Irish shores, his oyster menu is something to write home about. And, if you’re in a pinch this Valentine’s Day, you can even order a bouquet of flowers to the table.
