Start The Weekend Right
Piper-Heidsieck’s Rooftop Champagne Garden
Piper-Heidsieck has taken over the rooftop at Coq d’Argent for the summer. Expect skyline views, chilled glasses of cuvée and a French-accented menu featuring oysters, white crab and a lavish fruits de mer platter. On Fridays, DJ Mark Charade spins a slick mix of jazz and house (5-9pm), making it the ideal spot on a thirsty Thursday. There’s also a three-course set menu for £40, available Friday through Monday.

Fortnum’s Seafood Pop-Up
Fortnum’s at the Royal Exchange has teamed up with Rick Stein and his son Jack for a throwback seafood menu marking 50 years of their classic Padstow restaurant. The five-dish lineup takes diners from a deep, bisque-like fish soup through to an indulgent turbot with hollandaise, and ends on a knockout chocolate fondant. Available throughout summer – ideal for long lunches or a smart post-work supper in the City.

Get A Culture Fix
London Road
For something smart and seriously original, try London Road. Back at the National Theatre for a limited run, this genre-defying production blends real-life interviews with choral music to explore how a town reacted to the 2006 Ipswich serial murders. Visually stark and musically unconventional, it’s unsettling, powerful, and unlike anything else on stage right now. It also marks one of the final productions under the National’s outgoing artistic director Rufus Norris – a fittingly bold choice to close his chapter.
National Theatre, Upper Ground, South Bank, SE1 9PX; until 21st June

MR PORTER London
To help you get Father’s Day right, MR PORTER London is pulling out all the stops. On Sunday 15th June, the Mayfair steakhouse and lounge will host The Gentleman’s Roast, a one-day-only affair designed to bring some refined flair to the classic Sunday ritual. Expect standout cuts like roast loin of beef and pork belly served with all the trimmings: crisp roasties, glazed parsnips, Yorkshire puds and rich red wine sauce. Then, wash it down with a specially crafted cocktail (we rate the Naked Umeshu a bold blend of whisky, umeshu, sherry and fig liqueur). To finish? An indulgent nocciolata dessert of hazelnut sponge, caramel and ganache topped with coffee ice cream.
